Hi all,
My buddy has a Ruger Redhawk 44 with the longer barrel. It's the model without the integral ring mounts. It appears to be in good shape and the owner is a pretty meticulous gun owner.
Its a gun I have always liked but never really cared to purchase new.
He has offered to sell it to me for $600.
Any thoughts on that price. I think new, if you can find it, are about $800 correct?
Can these be safely tapped if I wanted to scope it?

Id say thats a fair price nowadays. You should be able to scope it.

Kentucky….no place like home.

Fair price depends on location. In Minnesota, used redhawks are/were listing for close to $800, some with accessories some without.

Last one I picked up I paid $550 for added some nice word grips and sold for $750
It was a 5.5 SS model.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

It is safe to drill and tap it for a scope. I have a 5.5 inch RedhWk with z Ultradot on it that I hD drilled and tapped. If you want it you better pull the trigger fast.

That's a good price.

Pretty sure Wiegand makes a no drill/tap mount for it that uses the rear sight hole and a band. They also make a short version that works for a red dot like a FF III. I have one on a Super Blackhawk and it works great.

Grab it. You won't be sorry.

This is what I ended up with.
TC Contender ( older ) with ported 223
TC Contender with ported 44 and scope barrel
Ruger 44 redhawk
Ruger 44 Blackhawk blued
Another 223 barrel

They are all early model but all seem to be very very well taken care of.

Not sure if the photo will come through.
