Does any one have any recorded chronograph velocities from a stock 22-250 XP100r using commercial ammunition with 50 & 55 grn bullets . Here in the UK some target ranges have a 3275 FPS limit placed on them I and I just need to confirm if it is unlikely that those velocities would be reached with the commercial ammunition from a pistol barrel.. I know its just another silly UK rule we have to live with in the UK.
Thanks

I shoot a Savage Striker w/ 16" barrel in 22-250. My moderate handloads w/ 35gr Varget and 50gr V-Max are moving 3300fps. I'd venture to guess that you would be rather close but the 55gr load and 15" barrel (I think that's what you have) may just fall under the limitation. UK...you guys measure everything metric, right?? Shouldn't you be looking for meters per second??

dogfox, I recieved your email, but I don't have any info on the 22-250. I have even less info when you start considering factory ammo.

Hi All, Metric? That’s just something they invented to confuse us older guys. Your right we have to buy, sell, measure and just about everything in else in metric. But most of the shooting world still uses the old imperial system like FPS, yards , grains etc.

Many thanks Xphunter.
I also do not buy or use commerical ammunition except for 22LR, but spend most of my time with neck turning tools and wilson dies etc.

Just curious, Geoff, how are you able to have an XP100 in the UK considering the full ban on handguns? Is there a barrel length exception whereby XP's escaped confiscation?

In the UK we can still have pistols but they must have an overall lenght of over 600mm which just under 24" and a minmum barrel lenght of 12". The problem is three fold. 1) Because they are to come by I do not know which calibre to apply for from the local police so my firearms dealer has to purchase and import one and then I apply for authorisation to purchase that pistol. 2)I need to find an FFL who is will to export one to the UK.
They are still shooting long range pistol at bisley ranges and long barreled revolvers on other ranges. These firearms classed as (long barrel section 1 pistols )
3)Any pistol must been manufactured to meet those overall lenght requirements or it remains in section 5 which is the prohibed / banned classification so any pistol rebarreled to meet those regulations would be still banned.
