I'm new to handgun hunting, but so far I love it!!!! I have a SBH .44 with a 2x leupold. And I'm not getting the results that I want. I'm thinking the trigger is needing some work. Am I just makind excuses or is this a possibility.
THANKS,

A good trigger will always help, but what type of results are getting and what do you want?

TX44, I have the same set up you do, a SBHH with 2x Leupold. Mine averages 4.5" at 100 yards. That's one shot from each cylinder. It all depends on what your accuracy expectations are. Will that pistol shoot minute-of-angle (1" @ 100 yds.)? No. But mine shoots "minute-of-deer" all day long. Hang a 9" aluminum pie pan on a string, then send 6 shots at it from 3 different field shooting positions. If you can keep all 6 shots on that pan at 100 yds., you got an accurate revolver. No cheating using the shooting bench. As for trigger jobs, guess I got lucky and didn't need one. What smoothed out my trigger was dry fire practice w/ a cylinder full of snap caps. Try it, when you can drop the hammer without your cross hairs moving, you're there. If you can't, it may be your trigger needs a bit of work. An overly heavy, creeping, or gritty trigger will never make you happy till you fix it. The one smith I can recommend personally is JD Jones' outfit at SSK.

Thanks guys for your feedback. The snap caps I just bought. I think I'll be getting a trigger job, then LOTS of practise.

Hey TX44--I read an article about lighting up the trigger on the SBH's--take your grips off and there is an L shaped spring on both sides, lift one side off the post and replace your grips. Then (with an unloaded firearm) cock the hammer and as you pull the trigger, push forward on the hammer with slight pressure. This is to smooth the trigger of any small burrs. I did this to all my SBH's until I was able to get a professional trigger job. It does help some.
Just some FYI
Oh-Saw your post about the rear sight needed, I have one here at the homefront somewhere, will look for it and keep ya posted.

hntrjohn thanks for the tip. I got permission to get a trigger job from the BOSS, but I'll pass this solution onto my buddy.

THANKS AGAIN,
