check out hodgdons youth loads for h4895 powder. it can safely be reduced in charge by up to 60% in any load it's listed for in the hodgdon annual manual.
this could make your big kickin, powerhouse, handcannon a real pussycat to shoot in off season practice.

i shoot it in my 15" 7-08 with full powerloads, and get 2800fps, and great accuracy with 120gr noslers. i havn't tried any reduced charges yet, but they sure look interesting.

hey dan, check out the 30-30 reduced charges with h4895. that could possibly be just the ticket for forming ackley improved cases with lighter powder charges. i may have to try some of those.

First off, let me say that Hodgdon 4895 is my favorite powder and it works very good for me in my max./near max. loads..... Reduced to just under starting charge for .243 Winchester 15in. Encore it has also been very accurate. I tried loads in the 75% range well within Hodgdons published reduced range and found unburned powder in my barrel which I did'nt like. I was just experimenting and personally I did not like the unburned powder left in my bbl. This is just my experience and if Hodgdon publishes these loads they certainly work in some applications. They would be worth trying if you have the need....... Good Shooting.....

That's one powder I've never worked with though it does have many applications.

H-4895 is also one of my favorite powders for 223,6 on 223 cases, 7tcu and 6mm bullberry. I have had great results with full power loads and mid loads in the same cases.
