I just picked up an SSK 7mm TCU barrel. I was wondering if anybody has any pet loads for it. I was really hoping to shoot 100gr bullets through it. Any help will be appreciated.

I never shot any bullets as light as 100 gr in the 7tcu barrels I had but used H-4895 with 120 and 140 gr bullets and got outstanding accuracy.

No 100 grain loads here either.

I have used IMR-4895 with the 139 grain Hornady for years. Outstanding accuracy.

Mine really likes 26gr of Accurate 2200...a bulk powder they released a couple years ago and probably ran out of by now. I use either a 100gr Hornady HP or 120gr V-Max...both loads are super accurate.

Magman,

7mmTCU reminds me of 308 Winchester... Just about any old load will make you seem to be a GREAT reloader and shot... <snicker>

I'd recommend using your favorite medium burning rifle powder and starting a full 2gr below maximum because if JD chambered it tight and used a Shilen barrel you will probably get pressure signs at below "book max"...

7mmTCU is one of the "perfect" Contender cartridges...

Guys, Thanks for the input. I really want to shoot the lighter bullets. It's gonna be just a fun gun. Probably no hunting or anything serious. I had a 7 TCU once before but it was bought strictly to be a 7JDJ. Well hopefully, the barrel will be here anyday and I'll do some loading and see what happens. Maybe, I'll try my favorite Varget and see what happens. Thanks again.

Tim,
Mounted an extra Pro-Point that I had on it and am hoping for some agreeable weather this weekend!
