Was just wondering if anyone has tried Penn Bullets Thunderheads in their .45 Colt. If so, let me know your impressions of the bullet...

I have used them in my Ruger SBH Hunter 45LC. Dan B on this site sent me some to try. They are 270grn. They shot okay but never got consistant groups from them. My pistol likes 300 grn with gas checks. May be just the throats on my cylinder or forcing cone. I ordered another hundred of them and I'm going to try different powders with them. I like the idea of the wide nose of them and the energy they would carry.
I'm have the best luck with the Beartooth 300grn WFNGC bullets. They shoot good out of my old ruger 45LC and my new Hunter.
Like I said Dan Bowers is using them and I think there is an article in the technical or reviews at the top of the page about them.

I shoot them from my 5.5" RBH that's had the cylinder throats cut and it handles them great. My other .45LC (the Hunter model) has not digested any yet...it loves the 340gr Penn so I've not ventured beyond that for now.
