Who would be seriously interested in a 3 day LR Specialty Handgun PD shoot near Pueblo, Colorado? This would take place in 2007. Since it is a LR PD shoot we would make no attempts under 399 yards. It would be in a target rich environment, but they don't have the same ring as steel. There would be a limit on the number of shooters (not yet decided). If you are a member of the Varmint Hunter Magazine it would be a good opportunity to make the 500 yard club and the 1000 yard club.

This is something we will do, but we wanted to see the real interest. We have the spots to go and can get a 3-day license relatively cheap. Biggest cost would be travel, eats, and motel. There will be some sort of fee, but that hasn't been decided yet. If schedules work right Rich Mertz of MOA Maximum handguns would like to come and someone from H-S Precision has gave interest. I will also try to get someone from Burris to be there since they are fairly close.

Yeah Ernie I have an interest. Dates would be real good as soon as posible so I can get it on the calendar and plan for it. I would be headed from NY to CO in a mini van so maybe a little car pooling would help keep costs down and share the drive. I use to drive from here to Denver in just 24 hours flat. 2 or 3 guys at 6 hour shifts would get us there in no time.

Dale, I'd consider that but I prefer 4-hr shifts. I'm not a trucker! I can see it now, a 223 and my 243 and 6.5JDJ and 221 and 222, and 7-08 and 270 and Oh that's right, we need room to sit!

One of my goals is to get Tom from H-S to come and shoot himself, and yes, bring a few toys with him too
I have already spoken tio himn about the possibility and he said he would like to, if it can be worked out in his schedule

Pueblo is only an hour from me, so I might be interested.

With the shoot being in 2007, date details are a ways off still, as is the limited amount of shooters we will allow. As soon as something is decided, we will let everyone know.

Gerry, 4 hour shifts would work, I'll just pull a double every now and then. If we have to many guns I'll see if we can borrow a 48' van. We can even throw a couple cots in there and save on the motel bills.

I've taken pd's past 500 with a stock 221 fireball XP w/40 NBT's, but it is not the best medicene for them in town. I would encourage folks to get burris rings that have the inserts so you can build or take out minutes fo rdiffernt ranges. or you can dedicate on pistol for one range and another for a different one. No telling waht the weather will be like, but wind will be an issue so speed & BC are important. Would encourage you guys to also bring your own portable benches. You can shoot off the ground but is easier and better off of a bench.

When we get dates, cost, and number of allowed shooters I will let you all know. From the response we have been getting, filling up our numbers will not be a problem.

Here's some more info--
Wouldn't be a problem for tgt. rich environments. Just 1 of the ranches (50,000 acres)is 30 minutes (west side) to 1 hr. (east side) away from my house with no less than at leats 10 separate pr. dog towns on it. Several r BIG towns. 1 is about as isolated as u can get, and has been shot at very little, but must be walked to over couple sandhills. Very few guys with keys to this place, and we wouldn't see another soul out there.

Ernie/Steve, Is this near where SHOTS took place. 4wd only vehicles for on the ranch type of thing. This time I'll take Rich's advise and have a gun up front so if another coyote shows himself I won't have to run in the back of the truck to get a gun

Well, it looks like we are going to have our LR specialty pistol PD shoot in the first part of October of 2007. We will limit the shoot to no more than 12 shooters (we are thinking maybe even 10). The number of people will depend on the #'s we are allowed by the land owners.
With the kind of response we have been getting this is something that will fill up once we have hard dates and prices.
