Has anyone used the Barnes Original jacketed 255 gr. FN that was designed for use with the 375 Win? Further, is there any additional info regarding use of the Triple Shocks beyond the original, "Don't use" recommendations?

Just looking for more bullet options to the Hornady's 220s, 225s and 270s in my 375 JDJ for elk at timber ranges. Your thoughts?

Well I've used the speer 270 very successfully on critters up to about 900 lbs. I've also heard good things about the Nosler Accubond but personally haven't used them. They are longer though and depending on the powder you use now, you might have to switch.

I have been shooting the Nosler Accubonds from my SSK 375JDJ, 14" barrel since they were available.
They are very accurate. Matter of fact, the most accurate bullet I have found for this pistol so far. I load the 260grn Accubond, BC-.473, with Varget and I'm getting 1875fps from 47grns. My buddy with the TC 375JDJ only gets 1800-1820fps from his barrel with the same load.
I have it on zero at 125yds. That puts it -1.5" at 150yds and -4" at 200yds. I can live with that.
I shot some wet phone books tied together with this bullet and it makes a mess of them. I'm real curious how it will perform on some of the heavy whitetail I'm going after this fall. Most of the bucks where I'm hunting avg 200lb. and the doe 140-150lb. The Accubond may be too much bullet for them as far as exspansion but I will see. I loaded them for hogs on my place but none have given me a chance yet.
I have shot the 200grn Sierra's, the 220grn Hornady's and the 270grn Hornady SP's. The 220grn FP might be the best for deer.
I'm going to try them in my 338JDJ#2 in the 180grn and see if they shoot as good as the 180grn Ballistic Tips did before they were discontinued.
Good luck with your 375.
Mike

Dan, I haven't tried them yet, but I have the believe the 'do not use' does not apply with the Triple-shock. I want to try them too because I use them extensively in my 308 and 30-06 and 30 magnums including my 30-378. They are slippery fast and accurate. I have been able to see about 150fps with them and the same load of powder. Barnes is on to something with the design.

I called SSK and they said it was too soft for .375 JDJ velocities, but I never used it so I can't be sure.

Well as far as I'm concerned, SSK is usually the definitive word. In this case though, Barnes designed the TSX 375 for the H&H and those velocities are quite a bit faster. Emails to Barnes, Randy and Ty Herring regarding this think the TSX should be perfect for the JDJ at those muzzle velocities and work great with the H&H at extended range. I'm going to try them anyway, but in any case, I am already extremely happy with the 285 Speer grand slam for Elk, and the 270's for woodchucks and attack squirrels. To be honest, the only real test I have on bullet performance with the 375JDJ is the demonstration of big blood trails, and near instantaneous death. I have never recovered a bullet from any animal, including my Elk! I have all of these with every 375 bullet I've tried. The proofs are hanging on my wall! I will give you guys my chrono test results when I finish the trial. My penetration test material will be a cement block and railroad ties at 100 yards! Yes, I have a proper back-stop.
