anyone got a book for Remington bullets?
i'm looking for a start point for 240 g jhp and 180g jhp
i use 2400. i tried 19g w/ 240 g bullet and it bent the case so i backed down to 17g and same thing. they are new brass wall thickness seems same as old brass. i hope the brass isn't getting cheaper because of metal prices going through the roof.

i put a wrinkel in two cases. it work fine with the xbt. the remmys worked great with rem cases. but the win 44 mag cases folded. they dont seem to fit my lee trimmer well either. i have noticed that before. they get stuck on the pilot. anybody want some 44 cases cheap!! i evean ran them through the resizer first! and yes i did bell them.

did you try backing off the crimp setting on your seating die?

there is no crimp. being new brass i cut the to the sugested size. of the top of my head i think its 1.175. my old brass was 1.172 so i backed off on the crimp and was setting the depth again. the win brass was about 3-4 grains lighter than the rem. i wonder if its a bad batch. i got some 180g bullets on order. they should be in today. i'll try them to see how they work. i thought i was setting them too deep. there is a whole lot of lead stuffed deep into the shell. i stopped at the crimp grove.

Did you chamfer the cases? I just finished loading over 500 R-P 240 gr JHP bullets with WW, R-P, Federal and Midway brass, and did not have any "bent cases". It is unlikely (not impossible, but unlikely) that you have a defective batch of brass, but you can call the Remington plant in Lonoke to verify that fact. It is more likely that your tool adjustments need a bit of tweaking.

Did you expand the case enough for the bullet to start with ease? If the case is not expanded and the bullet seats hard it will fold the case. Just like if you try and put too heavy of a crimp on a case, the excess down ward pressure will wrinkle the case. If you see tiny little slivers of copper and the bullet is seating hard the bullet is draging on the case mouth.
As a general rule I will slowly adjust the expander die down till I can insert a bullet nose first till it goes to the crimp groove in the case. Generaly most bullets are just a little smaller down the ogive and crimp groove than the base, so you still get good neck tension when seated.
