I know there are a gazilion different .22 bullets out there, but I spent Saturday trying to find the best shooters out of my target Mark II and my son's neos.

I was disapointed to say the least. I shot Lapua, remington, Ely, federal gold match, wolf, just to name a few and I could not get then to group worth a dang. The ruger has a 2x6 bushnell on it and my sons has a red dot. I was shooting 25 yards. I wasn't happy to say the least, but I know it would shoot where it was aimed. I even did something I hate to do. Stop shooting and actually clean the guns.

On the way home I stopped by the gunshow and picked up some CCI Pistol match. Has anyone shot these before? I just couldn't pull the trigger on buying a contener barrel in 30 Herrit with dies and brass for $150. There was also a .260 stryker with a harris bipod and tasco 3-24 scope for $700.00. I think the guy thought he had something special cause he didn't even want to talk about price. It was still sitting on his table yesterday evening too.

AGUILA match pistol!! i too have used most of the brands you spoke of whithout much luck. i shot in a nra 50 foot indoor bullseye league. i was using cci std vol. but they were not accurate enought. i switched to wolf. while they are very accurate out to 100 ydr with the bolt action long rifle, they are far too dirty for my izh35 semi auto pistol. also at $35 a brick it gets alittle pricey to shoot. i found the aguila at $25 a brick to very accurate. its much cleaner than the wolf. with the wolf i would have to clean the gun about every other match. with the aguila i clean it about once a season. there are a few at the club that shoot a german (not wolf) or check ammo at about $10 a box of 50. i'll find out the name if you want.

good luck

john

Last time I had my 22/45 out to zero the Optima red dot I took off another. Picked up a brick of Winchester Wildcat 22 nuttin' special long rifle high velocity...... Shot it at 25 yards and steadily put 10 round mags into the small diamonds on the sight in target which are about the size of a silver dollar. I was fairly surprised/impressed. Whether it be the ammo, gun, me or the sight.

Rod, too.

Bama, how hard is it to break down and reassemble your Mark II for cleaning? I have not picked one up because I hear they can be nerve racking.

My 14" Contender shoots CCI Velocitor GDHP very well. It has shot well with slow rounds like Remington 22 Subsonic and CCI CB Long and with faster rounds like Rem. High Velocity and Federal Gameshock. That barrel has not been picky with any ammo I have run through it yet. I want to try CCI SGB, but I have not found a local shop that carries it.

Does anyone have a Hanned SGB tool they would like to part with?

MY FATHER IN LAW HAS one. when i last saw it it was in a box kinda looked like a schematic diagram. i spent a hour with a real schematic trying to put it back together. he had been shooting at the range and it jammed. he took the whole thing apart there and couldnt get it back together. i think he brought it to the smith for repair. i also think something was missing. i like my izh35 alot better. very simple to clean!!

Bama, I have a High Standard Military Citation semi auto. It has a 5" barrel. I shot it for five years in Bulleye matches and shot some 100's with it. I shoot CCI Standard Velicity and have put several CASES through it. It will shoot the pistol match well also but from a Ransom Rest the match will only beat the standard velocity about 1/8" and that is not enough to justify the extra cost. The guys that shot with me in matches that used the Rugers shot CCI or PMC Match. They shot red dots on them also.
My Contenders like PMC match. It shoots okay from the semi autos also.
I don't think you can beat CCI Match or Standard velocity. The Aquila shoot great also but I can't always find it.

My Mark II shoots great with Winchester T-22 Target, and even better with Federal Gold Match. Sometimes it takes a bit of shooting to break in the action and season the barrel.
