Does anyone know what is the correct Farrell base for an XP100r, I think I may of confused Ken at Farrell by talking about 4 screw holes in the action, while he was talking about 3 screw holes.

That's funny. About four years ago I called and talked to Ken. I knew his model 7 base would work with XP's, after cutting some off the rear. I just wanted to ask him to make sure I wasn't overlooking anything. He said he didn't know, and wasn't even sure what an XP100 was.
I ordered a base, and he asked me to send photos if it worked out. It worked, and I sent photos. He never replied. Now he offers XP bases. You're welcome, Ken.

I assumed the hole pattern for the xp-100R was the same for the model 7 Remington action.
Ken does make pic bases for the orginal XP and even makes extended one that helps tremendously when shooting prone on 12x.

Yeah, my newest XP project will probably have one of his extended bases. Like I need another XP!

I have a Farrell on one of my XP's, but had to have a couple extra slots machined into it to move the Burris 3-12X as far forward as the base would allow, as the ring spacing wasn't right, and i needed that particular scope as far forward as possible. I really like the Near base as it's lighter, and allows me to move the scope further forward without having to add slots. It's a more flexible base IMO (in that regard, that is).

sscoyote, I was more than a little irrated at the lack of slots too. All the photos on Farrell's website showed slots along the whole base. I'm about to change the scope on that gun from a Leupold 4x to a Burris 3-12 and will have to mill some extra slots in the base.

Haven't had mine milled yet, since I have a rifle scope on that XP.
Near's are a lower profile which is another plus.

I was mistaken here. It wasn't a Model 7 base I used. It was a 700 short action base. Ken didn't even make a model 7 base then. And another thing I did was mill a hole to allow a screwdriver to pass through the base for the rear action screw.

I just got a TPS base in for my XP100. Just like Farrell was a couple of years ago, TPS doesn't make an XP base. So again, I ordered a 700 S/A base and cut the rear down.
I like it much better than the Farrell. It extends 1" past the receiver, has complete slot coverage, shorter than Farrell, and lighter. I got TPS HRT rings also. They're nicer than the Leupold QRW's I had.
I really like this base. Now I can get the eye relief where I want it and have the scope closer to the boreline.
I'm not sure about the base hole spacing on the XP100R and if this base will work with it.

Katcher, I haven't drilled the hole for the rear receiver screw yet. Took about .750" off the rear.

TCKEV, look at TPS's website. Their rings are really nice, and the price is way below what Leupold, Badger, & Near are. I imagine TPS's price will go way up soon since they've got military contracts & recognition now. TPS says no need to lap their rings. Of course I said horse pooky. I spent about 5 seconds with my ring lap and had %100 contact. Guess they were right.

Kev,
I use the Burris Signature Zee Rings.
I had them on my 7.82 Patriot and I use them on my 7mm Dakota. It is the only rings I use on my specialty handguns.
one day I will have some of richard's rings but that isin the future.

Sorry about all the questions...but, surely someone else is wondering too. What kind of safety and rear bolt cover is on your camo XP? I have three xp's in the works and none of them are like that. May I have some more, sir?

Katcher, it's a steel base. That bolt shroud is a Gentry with 3 position safety. It's made for a 700 so it threads right up. Firing pin needed some altering. The newer Gentry shroud requires some receiver fitting for an XP.
