the tree outside my office here at work has started dropping some of the smallest acorns i've ever seen. they are no bigger than a penny cap and all. they look like giant peas. hope the ones where i hunt are bigger than that. its been a very wet year here in upstate ny maybe thats why the are so small.

Well it's been a dry summer in Ga and after a big wind storm about 2 wks ago I found bunches of pea sized green acorns under a large white oak.

I was just checking some of the acorns in my hunting area last week. The trees are loaded with acorns but they are all about the size of a marble. I didn't get back down in the creek area where the big bur acorns are but I'll bet there is a load of them also. Even as dry as it has been in SE Oklahoma the creek area where I hunt has had some water in it and all of these trees are along the creek. I will be down there in a couple of weeks to hang my stands.

Was out doing some squirrel hunting yesterday and all the acorns here in Southeastern Ohio that I have seen this year are pretty much the same as you all have been seening--small about marble size. Last year the mast crop was unreal, you couldn't walk in the woods without walking on acorns.

HOW BIG ARE MY ACORNS??

Well...depends on how brave I am feeling!!

But the ones falling from the tree are normal for the year we have had...bigger around than a nickel but smaller than a quarter.

Been doing a lot of squirrel hunting here as of late and I have been finding some bigger acorns falling here in Southern Ohio. However, they are very scattered this year and no where near the mast crop of last year. That can be a good thing in itself, you just need to find some good producing oaks and hunting them.
