I drew blood with my muzzle loading Encore pistol this morning. I was sitting in my blind, about an hour after daylight, when 3 does came wandering in. They were headed straight toward my blind, so I waited until they were about 25 yards out. After the shot, I first thought that I had missed by the way that she took off. I waited a few minutes and went to look for any sign of a hit, not really expecting to see anything. When I got to the point where she was standing, I found a big spray of bright red blood so I knew I had a good hit. Where she ran, she spray painted the trees with blood on both sides of her trail through the woods making it easy to find. She made it only about 50 yards before giving up. The good news is that she ran straight toward my truck. I was shooting an Encore pistol with a 16" barrel that I cut down from a rifle barrel, using 100gr T7 with a 240gr Hornady bullet. I couldn't tell anything about the bullet, since it passed completly through without hitting bone, but the exit wound wasn't much larger than the entrance. The landowner wants me to thin out the does on this property. There are so many that they come in his yard at night and eat his wife's flowers and shrubs. His wife wants them gone! I'll probably go back next weekend since there seems to be a pretty good herd of them.
