"But Honey...the Dr said that light walking is good for my knee."

{Read the next part as if Charlie Brown's teacher were talking}

"Wah, Wah, Wah" she replied (or that's what I heard).

"Yes...I know that. But that's why I hunt with a handgun...they are MUCH lighter than those bulky rifles and shotguns. Which means that it's better for my knee."

"Wah, Wah, Wah, Wah"

"I know. Heat the back, walking for the knee and Ibuprofen. I did the first and last, now I just need to walk a little. I'll be back soon."

It was a GOOD walk this morning!! Watched a large group of birds enter the field just above their roost. When one cleared the group, I ranged, checked the wind, picked the stadia and launched a 162gr A-Max at this bird when it had its head down feeding at 396 yards. Can you believe that it dropped on the spot! Entered the top of the chest and exited the pooper w/ a 4" hole.

OK...so maybe the WSM and 162gr A-Max was a lliitttllle overkill on a 15# turkey...but it sure did work!! I guess you could call this my Colorado Consulation prize.

If Kirby could build a more accurate gun and you could shoot maybe you would have just shot his eyes out

Dan, that is awesome! Now I don't feel too bad about taking squirrels with my 44 magnum. Next time I go though, I'll wait for better, broadside shots. This week I shot at two squirrels and shot both; unfortunately (or fortunatley) I am now left with what looks like two very small gray socks!!

What scope?? Well...in my mind there is only ONE scope for a handgun w/ a barrel longer than 10"...and that is the Burris 3-12x32. They are pricey (over $300) but once you pay the cash...you have a SUPER product that will cover ANY situation from varminting to big game.

Yep...plenty of meat left! Tasted awfully good too. My other turkey gun is a XP-100 in .222 Remmy...it uses a 50gr V-Max which I like to plant right on the spine below the skin/feather junction on the neck. No tracking or follow up...they are DRT. It works great!

You'd be suprised how easy it is to connect on a LR shot when the equipment you're toting is capable of kills to at least twice the distance being attempted. Most of my kills w/ this gun (only had it since August...and taken three deer, turkey and a slew of g-hogs) have been over 350 yards but under 400yds. When I get an oppurtunity at a shot on game over 400yds...the gun and load are certainly capable, the shooter just needs to do his part. Milk jugs at 500yds are easy kills.

What a shot Dan--perfect. Nice to hear that A-Max is opening up too on a turkey at that range. Gives me hope for the A-Max on coyotes @ LR.

Seems like the perfect caliber for turkeys to me. Kill and clean at 300 yards! What could be better than that?

Way to go Dan. I don't care what the gun was or what cartridge was used, that's a darn good shoot on a Turkey. I also think that just maybe the shooter had something to do with it too.

I've got 2 Fall Turkey Tags for the unit I live in. Unfortunately in this part of South Dakota we HAVE TO USE either a Shotgun or Bow.

Congrats bud.

Steve...the A-Max's are an awesome bullet! Big thanks to you and Ern for turning me onto them!!! They should do very well on yotes at LR. I'm driving them at 2825fps.
