November 15th with an S&W 29 8 3/8 bbl .44mag 2x leupold. Chasing a doe; pulled him off her trail with the new buck growl. In my treestand at appx. 1:00pm first shot deflected off an unseen twig and required a follow up. Love handgun hunting!!! Yes I noramlly shoot the 454 but I was more comfortable with the way I was shooting the Smith.

congratulations 454casull. you were right by going with the gun you're most comfortable with and like vance said it looks like it was enough!

Thanks for the props all! The buck was 3.5 years old and dressed at 130#. Yes, the .44 mag is plenty for deer but I do love shooting the FA guns. The load for this one was 24.6 of H110 under a 240gr Sierra. Holds about 3" off the bench at 100 yards. There are a few better deer in the area but this one is a real good deer to take out of the herd based on his so so antler development. Still he is a true trophy in my book. Glad to finally be a little more active on the forum.
