Just came in from shooting my 45-70 15" muzzlebrake encore. It didn't shoot as good as I hoped but it will kill a deer. Shooting at 50yrds off homemade shooting sticks sitting on the groud and wearing leather insolated gloves, load was 45.5grs RL 7, WLRM primer, 2.550" col. The 5 shot group was 3 1/2" Now just have to wait tell the 29th when deer season opens, can't wait.

Have you tried H4198? My Contender barrel likes 50 grains of H4198 with CCI200 primers. I average 1894 fps and just under 2" at 100 yards with both 300 gr. Hornady JSP and 300 gr. Nosler PSP.
