My 45-70 encore got me a nice 8pt. It's my first buck with any fire arm and its my 2nd deer with a handgun. He was still in rut, I rattled and called him in from over 300yrds out, here in Kansas the rut is over but he didn't know that. He finally gave me a shot at 35yrds, with a 4x scope it was hard to get on him, I was on a bluff about 30' over him and he was down wind, he ws walking through a thicket I tryed to get on him at 50yrds but he wouldn't stop, so I let him walk towards me, I had to swing my shooting sticks and wait tell he got past a tree. He stop for a second and I figured it's now or never, had to shot through a little lite brush, he was quartering towards me pretty hard so I took him in the neck and it came out the far shoulder, he droped like a ton of bricks.

many congrats. that neoprene shell carrier looks like a good idea. i pack a few rounds on my left wrist in a cut down buttstock shellholder. might try your idea sometime though.

Good shooting. I've got seven days left to hunt and my 45-70 may see some time out of the safe...we'll see.

Nice Buck! I also like the shell holder. Is it a wrist one or did you a but stock holder down? I have an really old wrist one and the elastice is shot. Does Thompson still make one?

Its a butt stock shellholder it's made of neopreme, it holds 6 bullets I didnt need to cut it down, it has velcro that holds the ends together its not a tube style like most.

Thompson still make both shell holders. One is velcro and holds 2 rounds and an elastic one that holds several rounds.hope this helps you out
