First day of PA deer season found me in my tree stand near Clintonville. As it got light I started aiming down my shooting lanes to see if every thing was OK. My Burris set on 3 power looked good. After checking all the different lanes I turned up the power to 7X to check out my two long range lanes. I couldn't see through the scope. Lowering the power to 3 power again everyting seemd to be OK. Holding up the scope while i turned up the power revealed the it would go totally out of focuse over 3 power. I sent it back to Burris, when I get it back I'm going to put it on my 17 Mack II barrel. It should hold up to that recoil.

No, it was a 2-7 no adjustments. I figured I'd hunt the rest of the season on 3 power. At the end of the day back at camp I shot it and it was off by a foot at 35yds. I hunted the next two days with my 3inch Tarus .41.

Its about 5 years old. I bought it new to put on my 35-06JDJ. That lasted about three days with a broken reticle. After getting it fixed, I put it in moth balls for a few years. I decided it should hold up on my .41 Contender. Wrong!!

That has to be a bummer. I have heard of guys scopes going south on them during a hunt but never had it happen to me.

I have a shooting buddy that kept destroying 2x Leupold EER Handgun Scopes on a S&W Model 229. After the 3rd time it bit the dust he finally figured out it was his mount.

I own several 3x12 EER Burris scopes and have not had any trouble with any of them. the biggest thumper I have is a 300 WSM HS and the scope has held up on this boomer.
In the past I have had several scopes fail on rifles, including Leupolds and Burris's, but so far the only pistol scope to fail was an old T/C scope

That is odd. I have 2 Burris 2-7's on a 378 GNR and a 416 GNR with absolutely no problems.

I'm of the opinion that scopes are like cars, or anything else, once in a while you're gonna get a Monday no matter what the brand. I've had cheeeeeep glass that won't give up, as well as better glass that just wasn't up to par. If you get more than one lemon of a particular kind then it's time to shake another tree tho, JMO, Rod.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

When I first got a 378 GNR contender barrel I put a Burris 2-7 on top and after three shots the reticle broke. Luckily I was at the indoor range at the gun shop so they boxed it up and sent it back. I got another one back in about two weeks. I put it on and it lasted about 30 rounds and then broke. I sent it back too. The one I now has lasted for about three years but I went to encore so the recoil is not as bad. I just buy the bushnell trophy 2-6 now so if it breaks I can send it back and afford to have a couple of spares laying around.

Never had a problem with a Burris scope that wasn't operator induced. The only Burris scope that ever failed was an old 3x on a Raging Bull 454. I didn't check the mounts and the eyepiece seperated from the scope tube. Totally my fault. What did Burris do, offered me any scope I wanted for a greatly reduced price. Got a new 3-12x and a big smile on my face. That poc Taurus is gone, but the 3-12x remains. I guess the Taurus had a purpose after all.

I have 3 Burris' scopes. A 3X9 on my Savage Striker 300 WSM (for over 2 yrs) and I have a 3X12 on my 6.5 x 284. Both with no problems. I had a 3X12 on my .223, but took it off for a higher optic, but it shot great.

Guess I'm lucky.

Count me lucky as well. I love my boomers! .375JDJ, .444, .375-06JDJ, .500 Smith's, .454 Casull, .460 Smith, my Burris scopes have taken them all on. Nothing is totally foolproof but Burris is close.
