I'm getting ready to do some fireforming on 100 pcs of 225 win brass for my 6.5JDJ. I have some loads for that.
I'm looking for a good flat shooting load with Nosler 120grn BT's. I have a TC Super 14" 6.5TCU rechambered by SSK to the 6.5JDJ.

My loads came from JD with the barrel and I have never been happier! It is the most accurate handgun I have ever owned or shot for that matter!!! The load is 33.0 grns of AA2520 with the 120grn ballistic tips. They are setted wayyy long 2.809" and run 2415fps out of my 14" barrell. When I say they are "accurate"!! That is the understatement of the century!!! I have shot honest 5 shot groups of .412 with this gun @ 100yards! It wears a Burris 2-7 since I put it together a few years ago. My cousin does all my Tender trigers for me and they run around 1 1/2-2 lbs and break like glass!!
The next person to own this barrell will be my cousin, and he will get it when I'm taking the "dirt knap" .

I'm shooting the same load as JDJHunter and there is no reason to change. I bought mine as an SSK rechmber and I had concerns as to why it was sold. The concerns went away with the first 3 shots after sighting in. I consider it to be a sub MOA load, but I've never shot it past 300, even on paper. Maybe I'll get a chance on DanB's 4 and 500 milkers this spring at the SWPA handgun shoot he is planning.

I have used IMR4320 and AA2520 with great success. I've owned 2 6.5jdj barrels and love them both. The first was a rechamber of a 6.5tcu. In that I shot 33.5grains of 4320 behind the Nosler BT. Got great MOC(minute of chuck) accuracy. In my new SSK custom 6.5jdj, I've been using 33 grains of 2520 and that works great also. I know there are other powders out there for the 6.5jdj but with these great powders, I see no reason to change.

This info is great. I have H414, IMR4350, Varget. My 5 reloading books list these three powders most. They also mention the IMR4320 & AA2520.
All of my books and the "Complete book of Reloading for the Contender" lists IMR4350 as the powder of choice in most bullets and has the highest velocities. I'm not a real speed freak as much as I'm into little clusters out far.
I really like Varget in a lot of my SP's. It doesn't always get the highest velocities but it shoots great groups and doesn't loose much speed over other powders. I can't find and info on the Varget for this round. It is snuggled in between the AA2520 and others listed in my burn rate list so I was wondering if it would work.
I'm runing 100 cases through the dies today and loading with some powder I don't use much that is listed for fireforming and Speer 120grn bullets which I have hundreds in 6.5.
I have a 2x7 Burris right now but I can see needing a 3x12 soon if I find the magic load for this barrel.
I'm doing a doe management hunt the last three days of the year and I want to use this barrel, BAD!
Thanks for the help and any other ideas will be appreciated.
Merry Christmas.

Mike
