Since i am a full blown handgunner now I was wanting to get some.

What kinds do yall use and like?

I have a telescoping set from Ganderland. They're about like Stoney Point sticks. They work fine with rifles and handguns.

I have eschewed sticks for the Stony Point Monopod. It adjusts from sitting to standing with a twist of the wrist. Still have sticks for sitting sometimes - more compact.

TChunter, I have a set of Shooters Ridge folding sticks and love them. Very handy.

What I do is take a folding camp saw in the woods when I am scouting, I find a sapling about 1" round that branches off in a Y at the top.
I then cut the branches on each side of the Y about 2" up then I cut the sapling at the base and trim it to be about 3.5 to 4 feet tall. and if i really want to get fancy I Will drill the base out and put a arrow insert in and use an old field point as a spike when walking on snow and ice.
it works very well for me and the camo can not be beat

I took 6" of 3/8" gas line and two full lenght arrows. Cut 2 holes 2" down from each end of the gas line and slip over the arrows. I put a threaded insert in each end of the arrow. Then screw in a field point on the end that's down. Adjust the height by spreading or narrowing the arrows.

Brilliant, Tigger! Love the gas line trick. I like using gas and vacuum line for stuff too. Handy isn't it?

Pretty cool trigger,I think Ill do that next!

Here is what I done today for a monopod.


I went to Lowes and poked around for ideas.


I found this telescoping aluminum sprinkler riser for 5 bucks.




Here are the materials..about a whopping 8 dollars, not counting the expoxy and glue which I had.

Sprinkler riser, pvc cap and paint roller handle.






First I heated the roller shaft till it got the plastic soft enough to pull the steel free.




I then heated the plastic to get the "Y" a little wider.



Here is the wider "Y"





I plugged the hole with some JB Kwik Weld so when I glued it on the shaft the epoxy wouldnt run out.




I then set it up with some epoxy because of course the threads didnt match.




VOILA!! a poorboys telescoping monopod!




The 24"-48" gives me a pretty good range. It is good for seated, kneeling, and even standing with just a slight bend in the knees.

TC, sticks is fer gurls....just kidding. I use the Stoney Point adjustable with the v-notch screw on top. It holds the TC perfectley at any height.

Yup, I like to tinker with things, especially if I can save money!! Here is a close up of the gas line. I used a 1" round gasket punch to make the "scallops" in the line to slide over the arrows. I can't remember the size of the arrow that fit snug in the 3/8" line. I took the line to the archery shop and tried it on a few diferent arrows till I had the right fit.

Well, I like it. Saved the picture in case I ever want to make a set like that.

Yeah, but it's more fun to make "stuff". Especially when you can tell your wife, "Honey, I made it myself with junk in the shop/garage". Little does she know that you spent more making it than you would buying it pre-built!
