I have seen now in 2 magazines that T/C is bringing out a new bolt action rifle. The interesting thing to me is that they are also teaming up with Hornady and bringing out a new round for it, the T/C 30. Kind of looks like a 1/2 way point between a .308 and a 300 WSM. It says it will launch a 150 grain bullet at 3000 fps. Wonder if they will chamber it for the Encore? Looks like a interesting round to neck down to 7mm or 6.5mm if brass becomes available. Might be interesting!

Wow...that kinda sounds like a.....30-06!! We have enough "new" cartridges that are pumping out the same ballistics are old rounds!

I have been following the bolt action thing for a while now. The pics I have seen look like a VERY nice piece or craftsmanship. I'd like to see that action put to work as a bolt action handgun!!

I'd like to see what this bolt-action looks like. Is there any web sights we can look at . I saw a new muzzleloader from T/C, its an Omega style but it also is a break action .And they also claim that you can remove the breechplug by finger pressure.

I agree with Dan. I've been gettting 3000fps from my '06 and a 150BT for years. I can get more from my lomg barreled M1917 and stove pipe barrel. I saw the write up on the new Hornady ctgs. After you read about them, check out the balistics compared to JDJ's based on the '06 case! It looks to me like the 375-06JDJ is actually faster from a 16" than the 375Horn from a 24". Also, I think the road is going to be tough for them. It is very difficult to get a foothold in an established market. I'll bet Remington is ?? the introduction of their 98 and 99 series. Most people won't always jump at cheaper, and many won't go the semi-custom (TC Icon) route because its new. Time will tell...

No doubt the JDJ's are great cartridges, all of them, but you can't get them off the shelf of your local sporting goods store. Time will tell on these new rounds. I'm already makin' room for a tube for my Competitor in 338-08, aka 338 Federal .

Rod, too.

Rod, I gree with that, but I already have a 338-06, Hunter Brake in my 15" Encore and it blows the new 338-08 away. I was just agreeing with Dan that there is very little 'newer better' coming along. The 338-08 version is great for a non-reloader I agree, but when I usually take my barrels to the range, I shoot a minimum of 50-60 rounds each caliber. I can't really afford 3 boxes of Federal factory for 3 or 4 of barrels to shoot 3 -4x a month. Almost every weekend I bust many caps, either TC or Sharps or XP an now a 7-08 striker. I need to reload. It's worth it to me upfront to spend now and shoot much later. The only reason I don't reload all my 223 stuff is that TC doesn't have a fast twist to handle 80gr loads. MilSurp 52 and 55gr shoot great from my tubes. $2.99/box is very affordable. This is just me though. I only have two SSK barrels, all the rest can shoot factory ammo if needed, but I rarely shoot it. Heck 416 Rigby is $135/20 rounds at Cabela's. I can load them under $18/box; I don't shoot alot of them!

Pretty sure that rifle is called the "Triumph".

And I'm pretty sure that the 338-06 is a legit factory round...otherwise known as the 338-06 A-Square I think? Not sure if there is any difference in the SAAMI specs between the two.

No question, rollin' your own is the way to go when you shoot alot. I think I read somewhere that less than 10 percent of hunters do though, and the remaining 90 are what the makers are hangin' their hat on. My bro helps me out, I just get in the way actually, stuffin some. I also get from Reeds for some we don't have dies. I practice alot with rimfire tubes in the contender, and reman .308's in the Competitor which cost less than $5 a box. I also bought a Bisley in 22 L/R and set up the same as my SBH Bisley Hunter .41 just for cheap practice, it's paid for itself many times over. One day, I'll have the time it takes to really get into the art but for now, I'll have to bite the bullet on occasion. I'm just glad I ain't shootin' a 700 Nitro Express at $380.00 for a box of 5 . Good shootin', Rod.

I believe the name of the new T/C Bolt Action Rifle is the ICON. I too wish and hope they'll bring it out in Speciality Pistol Form, but I am not going to hold my breath.

Actually it is smaller than a 308 and you won't be able to reproduce factory performance with handloads because they aren't releasing the powder used in it (according to Hornady). In handload it will be more like a beefed up 30 Herrett in my best guess.
