I have read on here in old posts about shooting rimfire in the Encore. Can someone please explain to me how that works. I am sure I would buy say a 22lr barrel (from where though? I havent seen those offered anywhere) but then what about the firing pin?

I know the Contenders change from RF to CF...how does that work? Is the chamber on the Encore RF barrel offset or something?

Two ways - You can buy (or so I've heard) a firing pin conversion that will work with a regular concentrically-bored/chambered barrel. The barrel would have to be custom ordered since T/C never made any Encore rimfire barrels.

Or, you can get - as you suspected - a barrel that's bored off-center so that the regular firing pin and bushing work with it. OTT (On Target Technologies) is the only company I'm aware of that makes the offset bore barrels.

Virgin Valley once made a rimfire firing pin for the Encore that replaced the center fire bushing in the frame via one set screw. You might find a used one, but I wouldn't know where to look.
There's also a .223 or .22-250/.22 LR sub-caliber device that has its own center to rimfire converter insert you load in after dropping in the rimfire shell. Those are still on the market, I see ads for them now and then. Good luck.
