Bought a scope on another site. Pictures looked good, price was ok. Got the scope and cleaned it up. Much to my surprise it had some pretty bad ring scratches that were covered up by magic marker or something. I am sick . The scope, a Burris 7X, will function fine, but it looks awful. Anybody got any ideas how I can blacken the scratches in a permanent manner? The scratches are real close to the adjustment turrets and will not be covered by the rings on my mount.

John

I wonder if nail polish would hold up? Seems quite durable. Might have to clean the area real well. Then with a small brush get a light coat on the scratches.

How 'bout BLACK AND BLUE!! Besides, that won't match my shoes!

Naw it's a glossy finish. I have this stuff to use on open sights for my 45's that will look like an anodized finish and it holds up pretty good. I tho't just maybe somebody else had a trick other than painting the whole thing...but maybe that is what I'll have to do.

Thanks for nuthin'

I'd give Dave at the Gun Garage a holler. I think he can fill some of those scratches and give your scope a nice finish. It's worth a try.

I'd use Duct Tape... Then you could cover your gun and have a matching outfit.

I'll take it off your hands...send the scope and the XP stock and we'll call it even.

I too had a scope come in that was not so pretty. I sent mine to Dave and he trued a crappy scratched upo blued scope into an awesome looking matte finish. He also filled in all the numbers and letters with white.
Top notch service and fast turn around.

Thanks,
Shawn
