I was reading a new Handgunner annual and Mark Hampton reviewed the new pistol from Weatherby. It looks like an XP on steroids .It has a rear grip and a synthetic stock. It is chambered for the .223,22-250,.243 and.308 factory loading . I can imagine what some of the calibers people will come up to modify this one with. The only thing I didnt find out was the price Yes there was sticker shock I just went to there web site and found the price of $1579 for the Mark V CFB

The CFP is a new version of the old Wetherby pistol. I don't think they changed much but the stock. A local dealer has a one in 223. The asking price is $989.00.

Gio, what stock is on the CFP. Laminated or synthetic?

Went into the gun shop today. Was looking at the Encores out of curiosity. Then the counter guy said, "Well, if you like those Encores you should take a look at This. And he drug out a Weatherby Mark V Compact Firing Platform (Weatherby's code for pistol) in 243. He had it marked at the MSRP of $1579. While I was fondling it and BS'ing the counter guy, the owner had been watching through the one way window. He stepped out and yelled across the 40' room, "I'll make you a hell of a deal on that gun!". He then checked the inventory data and knocked $400 off the price! He said that the gun had been there for six months and I was the first person that had picked it up. I turned it down, but it was a nice setup if you want to carry a 27.5" package with a 16" barrel, that weighs 5.25 lbs. It was tempting but, even with the discount it was a lot of money.

I see by this thread that he probably had another $300 to work with. I feel for him but, will stick with my XP's for now. \:D

You might wanna check Gunbroker if they interest you. There have beena few there lately, one in 22/250 had a buy now of $649. Having talked to a few that have them they are quite accurate, though so is a rear grip XP which is pretty much the same format. Remember the name alone will jack up the price beyond what is reality. The original CFP's had a problem with the stocks cracking from what I've heard. Aparently they have addressed that issue. Might get one one day just to say I have a Weatherby ;-) Rod.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
