I am going on a pig hunt in a couple of months and I want to use the .460. Is the 200 gr Hornady bullet enough or should I go with something from Corbon? I do not reload right now. Thanks for the help!

How big is the pig? Little like a havalina or really big feral pig?

They say the average is between 225 and 325 lbs.

If it were me a little heavier bullet is in order for a 300 pound pig. They can be tough animals, especially in the shoulder regoin. CORBON lists a 300 and 325gr load for the 460. Either one would be a good choice.

Corbon uses a 200 gr Barnes X copper bullet in one of their loads for the 460. Took two deer last fall with them, both complete pass throughs. One hit broadside through front shoulders, the other above the shoulder but below the spine (aka. high shoulder shot) at about 40 yards each. I was shooting a T/C Pro Hunter Encore with a 15 in. bbl. Had my best accuracy with the Corbons. Would think they would work well on a boar too. IMO

I got my 350 lb Razorback last fall using a 44 mag 300gr federal cast core. One though the lungs (just missed the heart), a short 30 yard dash and one into the neck. Down he went. My point? Good bullet placed correctly will stop even big piggies.
