Mounted a target scope on my .223. It shoots great! Problem is, it has target turrents with no covers and can be ealsily bumped. I have it marked but, it's pain to keep checking it.

Any ideas? I hate to take it off, it shoots so good and is super clear.

wish I could help. not run into that problem as of yet. I guess the only way is what you are doing now, marking the settings and rechecking from time to time.

You might try putting a drop of Lock Tight on them to prevent accidental movement and you can always remove it if the sights did get off.

You could cut a couple of pieces of auto heater hose as "guards" for the turrets. Might be worth a try.

Write or call the manufacturer. I'll bet they send you a set. Nikon did for me! If the scope isn't threaded for caps, there's always duct tape!

Are the turrents resetable/can be set to zero? If so why not just remove set your windage and remove the clicker or whatever you call it. I would leave the elevation knob for target shooting.

I always reset the knobs to zero. If using comeups for longer range shooting, sure makes it a lot easier for return to zero. I've never seen a tgt. turret that wouldn't allow the turret housing to reset to zero.

I've never had an exposed turret move on me, altho. i did lose a Burris turret housing itself once several years ago. Since then i drill one more hole for the turret housing screw in the Burris's, as they only come with 2 little ones, and that's not enuf, IMO.

U have to be careful with Burris turrets, I've seen the turret housing screws slip on the shaft with fast twisting, and that's not a lot of fun. When u seat the Burris turrets try to get the screws to seat into the indent of the shaft--it's possible to tighten them on the upper rounded part, and that's a problem waiting to happen.
