I finally got out to chrono my 8" 410GNR, I'm pulling an honest 1980fps with the sierra 170gr hollow points and she held a 25rd group the size of a soft ball at 75 yds shooting off the bench with iron sights. I'd have to say Gary Reeder did good on this one.

Recoil is actually pretty mild, it's not much worst than a heavy 44 load. I still need to chrono my 255 and 265 grain cast performance loads but I plan on using this gun primarily for deer so for now I'm concentrating on the lighter bullets, I also tried the 210 xtp but didn't get good accuracy and I ran into pressure problems well before max loads.

Aren't those GNR calibers pretty cool. I've got a 10" contender in 41 GNR. My last loads were pushing a 170 sierra HP at 2010fps
average. I'm grouping just a little less than that at the same distance, using a millet 3moa dot sight.

Yeah, it's amazing what some of those cartridges will do. I own three of his guns, two 475 linebaughs and the 410, I had a bumpy experience with one of the guns but he made it right and this last deal with the 410 went great. I thought about scoping the 410 but that would defeat my purpose, I sold my 500 and 460 S&W because of the weight and bulk. I like just strapping on a belt holster and taking off into the woods, it cuts down my effective range but it makes my time in the woods alot more pleasant.

Gary doesn't get the respect he deserves. You see the"JDJ" calibers in the cartridge books but no "GNR". Not fair but if you kiss enough tail, you can get your name just about anywhere.

Not to take anything at all away from Gary but if you knew JD you would know that he doesn't kiss anyone's tail.

You are right Gary, I don't know JD and probaly should have not phrased my comment that way. I guess I should have said that some
people are better suited to promote their products than others..

I also think JD has been at it a lot longer than Gary. JD was developing high performance handgun ammo in the early sixties and was experimenting with a lot of different handguns and cartridges in the sixties and is still at it. So figure that's 40 years of doing this stuff beyond the hobby level.

I know Gary and JD well. Have hunted and done business with both. Both are geniuses. Neither will ever kiss anybody ass.
