Took the XP 257 Rob'ts AI out to the farm Monday to fireform some brass after I got done mowing. Really surprised by two things: the accuracy and the BOOM!

Even though there is a bit of fireforming going on, the accuracy was pretty good...better than I can shoot anyway... All shots were at 50yds because I didn't know what to expect and didn't want to waste a bunch of time running back and forth to the target board across the field. Ha!

Brake works good doesn't it?

NICE!! I had a Ruger M77 in 257 Roberts. Interesting cartridge. I never shot it, so I traded it off. The fellow that bought it tells me it's a shooter.

Its a Tasco 6 x 24 Target/Varmint scope with mil-dot reticle. A cheap scope but it does the job (so far). Wasn't sure what I was going to put on it, so I used one with a lot of power to get it worked in. May change in the future.

I've seen a lot of Tasco's used on some long-range rigs (mine included). As long as it holds zero, u can just apply the reticle for long-range shooting. The only real issue i've really ever had with the less expensive scopes is the repeatability of the turrets, but if u're not spinning them might as well see what it does.

Here's a link to a discussion we just had regarding ballistic and ranging reticles for LR shooting u may be interested in. Take a look at the comment Bill1227 posted (pg. 2). It's the best writeup i've ever seen on the mil-dot system anywhere for practical field applications--

This is my first b-plex scope and I find all that technical reading a bit intimidating. I will have to study it at length and try to digest it slowly. It reminds me of Physics class in college. Didn't do too good. Thanks for the lead to that website. Now I have more reading to do....

Steve...I've read thru the material a couple of times. I'm confused about the discussion of 1st focal plane and 2nd focal plane. Point me in the right direction to learn the difference between the two. Thanks.
