I need to get something in the safe. What do you guys have and like??

I like the looks of the Remington model that has a color code. When it's full you plug it into an outlet and it drys the desicant.

Hey Tigger check out these ones. http://www.drirod.com. The one I have works good in my 85% humidity basement.

I use a goldenrod in my safe. You can get them in different lengths.

I also use the golden rod with no problems at all. My safe is also in the basement.

My goldenrod survived a moving company and still works after being whacked in the move. JFJ

Grovere, all I get are the red "X's" when I go to that site. It might be my puter. Ever since we had to crash the OS and reinstall it, I can't seem to get my settings right.

I do have a hole in the side of the safe for an electric feed. It's small enough for just a cord, no plug. Does the cord come off the goldenrod then you can put it thru the hole and reinstall it?

With my luck it would short out and burn up the inside of the safe. \:\(

OK, got it to show this time. I read on the FAQ page that it operates around 125 degrees. How warm does the inside of the safe actually get. I ask this because the safe will also have photo albums in it. My wolf scrapbooks. The Albums are awesome, like a family history. So we don't want the heat to cause the photos and the embelishments to deteriorate.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner Tigger, been going crazy lately. I will put a digital thermostat in there and see what it does. Let you know in a few days what it is.

Another vote for the Golden Rod. Up here in the Pacific Northwest humidity is pervasive. No rust or even discoloration on my firearms, camera's and photo's/document binders. I'm in my safe a couple times each day, I don't just lock it up and leave it that way.
