What cartridge is everyone shooting for dear season this year?
For regular firearm season I'll be shooing my 12" T/C 357 Maximum. During the late doe season in January 2008 I will be shooing either my 15" 30-30 AI or 15" 357 Herrett. I will probably lean towards the Herrett since it is my newest barrel and needs to be bloodied.

35remington G2 contender will be the #1 choice. may take a notion to use some of the others, but that is one of my favorites.

I have decided to use my 14" 309 JDJ Contender along with my 4-3/4" & 8-3/8" 454 Casull's. If things go well I may throw in a 44 Magnum later in the season.

Do I have to say it? The 454 will be my first choice, most likely with a 335gr hard cast or 300gr jacketed we'll see which is more accurate. I've got the Mdl 29 ready to go as well.

41 mag Bisley hunter, and a 10" 357 max Contender. I put one in the freezer opening morning, Sept 1st, with a 25-06 A bolt. I had a sure enough bruiser in my sights late Labor day evening but the light was fading fast and I was having trouble getting a good sight picture so I passed. Gonna try him again tomorrow evening.

Well, I hope to be using my .338X444 OTT if I get it pretty soon. Got to break the barrel in but think I will use the 180 grn Nosler. I'll have my ever steady 30-30 Ackley Imp. on standby with 125 grn Sierras.

The XP in 35 Rem. I got 9 charlies with it this spring so it's dialed in and needs a to harvest a deer. After that I have a 243 Encore barrel that needs deer blood.

Finally got my hands on a Savage Striker in 300 WSM, and cannot wait to see the surprised looks on those prairie goats when they find out they are not safe past 300 yards.

Katcher,
Mine is just the plain old black plastic version, but I have stiffened it up a bit with three steel bars and a generous amount of Steel Bed. After I am satisfied with its LR accuracy, I am considering a camo "skin" for the stock. I have only seen one other 300 WSM Striker. It was in camo, but was definitely not for sale. I was very surprised at the recoil (or lack thereof). It was definitely less than I expected. I got my pistol rest from Cayle while I was on vacation, and hope to get to the range next week. Regards.

It was definitely less than I expected. Do you have a brake on it?

It has the Savage factory brake. I tried it in both the "off" and "on" positions. The felt recoil was more in the "off" position, but certainly not punishing. The 300 WSM Striker has a heavier barrel than the standard models, and I guess the weight negated some of the recoil. On the other hand, maybe I have shot so many 400 grainers from my 12.5" RPM 45/70 that I just thought these were mild (LOL). I should mention that I only shot 150 gr factory loads. I am sure the 180s will be a little stiffer.
