Same as any other scoped sight. I use a LaserLyte to get on paper and then fine tune from there. If no boresighter, start at 10 yards, then 25, then 50 centering on the bull. Once you get close, move out to 100 and do the same. I sight most of my bottlenecks about 2" high at 100. My 45/70, 44 Mag and 357 Max are dead on, or there-about, at 100. You can really dial in your optimum zero range with a balistic calculator. The Lee Shooter software is cheap, about $15 at MidwayUSA, but gets the job done. What caliber barrel are you using that sight on? Rod.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I would say without a boresighter, look down the barrel at a target at 25yds, center the target in the barrel, move your eye to the red dot, adjust till the dot is on the center of the target, move back and forth till they are centered up. I never have understood the laser thing, worked at a gun range for a while and any gun I could take the bolt out of and see down the barrel, I could get on paper the first shot, of course a good rest is helpful, but sandbags will do.

That's the beauty of the laser. You can't do that with every firearm. Once you've seen the light, you're hooked. It moves with the muzzle so you don't have to keep checking, bore/sight/bore/sight/bore/etc. I never thought it a big deal either until I used one, now never go without. For 40 bucks + or -, WTH.

"For 40 bucks + or -, WTH." - Well, I am one of the cheapest people around, so I can make $40 really stretch! To everyone their own. Ok, so I can see the use if you have many guns with barrels you cant look down, but I usually only have to sight my guns in once like that, so I figure I could buy a new set of dies for $40.
