I realise this is mostly a revolver and singleshot hunting forum. But are there any Pistol Hunters out there.

I've been hunting with my 357 sig Smith&Wesson pistol for seven years. Harvested quite a few wild boars. One was brought down with a spine shot at 30 yards. He tipped the scales at 250 pounds. My personal biggest. Just wondering, have any of you hunted with a Pistol using open sights. If so, what caliber and what game have you taken.Check out my hunt/fish site

mig rod, Great hunting!! That 250lb boar was one big bastard!!The first game animal I took was a 200lb boar using my 44mag Redhawk and Win. 240gr LSWC`s. Pigs are the only animal that I`ve used open sights to hunt and I used one type of scope or another on my handguns for the rest of the game I`ve taken.
( Sorry- I forgot about a coyote and some porcupines that I used
my S&W 22mag`s and a S&W 41mag with open sights )Good Hunting,
James
PS- I also used my Ruger Bisley in 45Colt to take some good size
pigs.

My S&W .460 is the only firearm I use for whitetail (I am a bowhunter, also) but I aim with a scope instead of steel. Getting them close is always my goal, but, just in case...

I have dropped a charging pig with my 45 ACP. It is a H&K auto and has iron sights. True being told, I have shot more small game with my Ruger 22LR than anything else. Again it has iron sights. This year I am going to try to take another deer with my trodishinal 54 flintlock.

Welcome... I am strictly a contender and revolver man... until of course my daughters gave me a kimber 45 for my birthday last year... I carried it last year and will continue to carry it until it gets first blood... not that I don't like shell shuckers, but I feel silly trying to find the brass... but a gift is a gift, soo I'll just try to make it useful.... actually it shoots like a dream... welcome aboard.... shooot what you brung and tell us some good stories...
