Seems like every time you turn around these days someone is bringing out a new cartridge. We all know that Ruger brought out the 375 Ruger last year, Marlin with thier 308 Express, and Thompson Center with thier 30TC.

Now Ruger has shortened thier 375 case and topped it off with a 30 and 338 caliber bullet. Ruger calls it the RCM (Ruger Compact Magnum). Looks cool and maybe the 338 RCM will take off a little faster than the 325 WSM. It also might crowd the 338 Federal a little. Here is a link to some stats on the RCM cartridges;

Hornady has also come up with a 6.5 cal "bench rest" cartridge called the 6.5 Creedmoor. Neat little bugger, basically a shortened 260 Rem. Here is a link to some data;

I was surfing around last night and came across a new cartridge from Federal, the 327 Magnum. Basically a 32 H&R case lengthened some and a little more power. I know Dan Wesson was working on a 32 Super Mag that never saw the light of day but there are a few pieces of brass out and about. If anybody has a few extra pieces I would love to have a couple for my collection, thanks. The 327 really interests me not so much in the little revolver for self defence but in a 15" Encore tube. Might be a good little death to charlies round. Here is a link to the 327 Federal Magnum.

As far as new goes I really like the 17 Rem Fireball, and if Rem is smart they will bring out the 20 fireball. That would be a cool little round. The 20 cal carz is really gaining ground. Now for some wishfull thinking; Rem should bring the XP center grip back out in the 17 and 20 Fireball with a 12" barrel. That would ROCK!! I know I'd have one of each.

So with all the new rounds in the last couple years what are you guys looking to buy, or better yet what would you like to see come out next??

I also like the new Hornady LeverEvolution ammo for .375 and .44 Magnum, too.

I know this is a handgun forum, but after going to the Hornady website and seeing all the new cartridges they are making ammo for, I wish Marlin Firearms would come out with a levergun in 32 Winchester again. Hornady is also making Lever Evolution ammo for the 32 Winchester.

Besides enjoying T/C Handguns, I also have a love for leverguns.

yeah the ammo with the polymer tip, Im really interested in putting some of that in the S&W 500 because they just came out with 300gr Evolution ammo available in 500 sw mag.

The 500 S&W would make an interesting levergun cartridge; it would be much easier to find than 50 Alaskan. I handload, myself, but always start out with a new caliber w/ factory stuff.

I was talking about how they took the same type of bullet used in the LeverRevolution ammo and now produce it 500 magnum. But a 500 s&w lever gun would be a really fun gun in my opinion.

A Hornady rep said they were going to put it on the market. I am glad to see that I am not the only handloader interested in that bullet.

The shortened 6.5 would interest me...but would that differ much from the 6.5x47 Lapua? I'm guessing that the Lapua case is a proprietary case that can't be made from anything else. So the shortened factory .260 Remmy may be neat.

WOW! I have been doing some reading on the new cartridges. It is amazing; essentially, it is the manufactures who are doing the wildcating.
