Over the summer I broke many of the bones in my left hand that required a few surgeries. Every thing is back in order now but still a little sensitive. Today I took my 375 JDJ out to reconfirm my zero and I guess I forgot how that thing recoils. Any suggestions on another barrel that isn't as stout. I was thinking of a 243 Winchester. I'm limited on time since PA's season opens Monday.
Thanks,
Scott

The 243 is nice, I just prefer the 7mm 08. I think it has a little more punch and the kick is comparable. If time wasn’t an issue, I might suggest a 35 Rem or a 375 Win.

Even with 100gr bullets the recoil from my 243 is mild. The 260 Rem or the 7-08 would also be good choices. Recoil will climb a little from the 243, but not that much. The 260 does not have a great selection of factory ammo like the 243 and the 7-08.

Morgan, I have a similar problem in that a 6' wood ladder fell across my right wrist. After it healed I shot a coffee can full of 454 reloads and my wrist swelled up. I sent my Freedom Arms
454 to Mag-na-port and had them install one of their muzzle brakes. For me the felt recoil was reduced about 40% and best of all there was no more swelling. I`am telling you this in case you decide to buy a hard kicking gun for next years season.
I wish you well and all the best, James
