I know that this has been asked before here, but I wanted to see a new post on it as I am sure that there are new experiences since the last post. My last one on a Encore muzzleloader was done by Bullberry. Price was right and it is lighter. It kind of feels like a 2 stage trigger with take-up before the 2 1/2# pressure. There are many prices out there and I don't want to just pay someone to replace the spring and call it a trigger job. Any preferences on who to do it or should I buy Mike Bellms kit and try it myself (that makes me nervous though).

i have one encore frame done by the now defunct virgin valley custom at 2 lbs(now mgm). it is nice. i've done my own since by weakening the factory spring on 2 G2's and 4 encores, plus bic lighter spring for replacement on several old contender actions. they are great for me and just as nice, but i reckon that don't help you much.

"shotsTC's" over at SP does them, along with most custom shops also.

My go-to guy for Encore and Contender actions, as well as one Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter,is JD Jones at SSK Industries (740-264-0176). When you call, ask for Tammi. Smart Lady, she'll give you straight up info, and she's real nice too. Top tier work comes out of that outfit.

I have had 2 revolvers done by MagNaPort and they did a great job. I have also heard good things about SSK but have no experience with them myself.

I would go with SSK. They have done all but one of my contenders and all are really nice.

Jim Hendershot does fine work and is great to deal with:

I bought the Bellm springs and the tools to do the job. Downloaded the tutorial and went to work. In one hour I had a trigger from 9 pounds, yes 9 pounds from the factory to 2-1/2 pounds with no creep or take up. Bellm's tutorial is great with pictures that show exactly what to do. He also has all the safty checks in the turorial, so I feel safe that the trigger job was done right.
