Wanted everyones opinion on what weight to have my trigger set for when I do my trigger job. I currently have a Encore muzzleloader set at 2 1/2 pounds and it is just fine for the heavy gun. However this is on a ProHunter pistol. I will mainly hunt and test loads with it and I do hunt in a colder climate. I was thinking 2# but have no expereince with the pistol version. Any input is appreciated.

Minimum of 2# for safety's sake. I like about 2-3/4# cause our hunting seasons are in the fall and winter up here in MN and gloves are a given. For bench a lighter pull would be better but I don't bench.

That sound like good advice to me. To light might be a problem for your hands in cold weater.

I have my Encore's set at 2-1/2#. Just about right for hunting. I have thought about lightening the stainless steel frame as I mostly use it at the bench and shoot winter league with it.

I have my two new SST G2 Contender Frames set at 2 1/2 pounds. They feel good to me at that poundage. I was shooting one of the frames Tuesday while I broke in my new SST Super 14 .223 Barrel. Temps were 18 - 20 degrees and 2 1/2 pounds seemed good to me under those conditions, but then I was only out at the range for about an hour.

I will know more after tonight as my SST Super 14 .22 LR Match Barrel is on one of the frames and I am just heading out the door to go to the Indoor Shooting Range for a little Pre Season Bench Rest Practice for our upcoming winter Indoor Bench Rest League.

I have handguns from about 8# down to a wee little 7 ounces! The 8#'ers have not been tuned yet...but will be soon hopefully!

For hunting purposes I like my guns to be around 1.5# with very, very take up and no overtravel. I fiddle with the adjustments on the G1 frames until I have it just perfect. I also use the hammer safety on G1's to be extra safe.

My hunting XP's are also around 1-1.5#. After shooting the XP w/ the 7oz trigger, they all feel like 8#!! And I do hunt with the 7oz'er!! The XP's are left empty until a shot oppurtunity is possible then loaded and bolt closed. Should the oppurtunity pass w/o squeezing the trigger I open the bolt and extract the round.

I agree with all of the others I keep my revolvers in the 2 to 3 pound range, I have one set right at 2 and it is almost too light, I had a close call with it a while back shooting at a badger with my 475, I missed the first shot and I cocked it on recoil and in the excitement I touched it off before I meant too just as the gun came back down.

3# is what I have mine set at. all wheel guns I might add. Good compromise between safety and accurate shooting; especially with gloved hands.

All mine are set at 2 pounds.
