Big game seasons are nearing their end her in PA but we still have an extended small game season. Late season walks on sunny days it can be a lot of fun chasing squirrel with handguns. What do you guys like to use.

I have several favorites. One is a 5 1/2 Ruger single six with a 2X tasco. Trigger has been worked on and it shoots really nice groups with Wally World bulk pack golden bullet hps.

I also have a 1960,s vintage colt 6" officer model match 22 that is super with iron sights. The factory trigger breaks like glass and the action locks up like a gun safe.

But my all time favorite was one I stupidly let get away from me years ago. It was the big brother to the colt above, a 6" officer model match 38 special. I stupidly traded it to get my first 357 mag. Its the gun I started my bullseye shooting with and was a real tack driver with 148 gr hollow base wadcutters. Man I wish I had that one back.

So what are your favorites? Oh by the way if any of you have a colt officer that you want to part with let my know ;\)

I have a couple of rimfire repeaters, a 22/45 and a Bisley 22/22 Mag, which are great fun and provide good practice for their big brothers. Also 17 HMR 14"er, 22 Mag 10"er, and 22 Match 14"er with optics for longer ranges on the 'Tender. Don't do much squirrel hunting but a bit of vermin eradication and clay busting at various distances is a blast.

I wish we could use our Semi's here in PA but only manually cycled repeaters are legal. I have 1970's High Standard Citation with a red dot that would be great but can't use it.

I'm glad to see someone else has an assortment of .22's. It is intially hard to explain why you "need" more than one .22 handgun but I have 5 and they all serve a slightly different purpose.

Just as XP-Nut has shown, I also like to have "enough" gun. My standard squirrel load is a 270gr Interlock from a .375JDJ at around 2100fps ;-)

Well...not really!! I'm too cheap to launch a pill that expensive at a squirrel! I do however use a SSK barrel...it's a 14" SS .22LR that wears a T'SOB and 7X Burris. T'SOB on a .22LR?? Yepper!! Found this baby on a SS frame in a gunshop near Edinboro for $325!! Played with it for a minute and discovered the hammer would not fall...due to the locking bolts not fully engaging . Informed the owner that it had a "problem" that I was willing to deal with and he dropped the price to a jaw dropping $275...out the door!! Swapped the barrel onto another frame and it works great!! On a calm day it will shoot one hole groups at 50yds with quality ammo. It even shoots the cheap bulk pack Rem or Fed into less than .5".

I hunted them for about ten years with a ruger single-six, 9 1/2" barrel topped with a homemade scope mount and a 2X Tasco. At that time I couldn't find any manufacture that made mounts for the single-six so, I just made my own. Kill countless with it. Like a dummy, I sold it a couple years ago when Ruger advertised their new single-six hunter in 17HMR/17MachII. Thought I wanted one but, was never able to find one to purchase, so I bought me a 22lr match barrel for my T/C Contender and that's what I'm using now. It's extremly accurate but, my old ruger just had alot of sentimental value. Never sell any handgun after you become attached to it.

I have a scoped Ruger Single Six that I put a Wegland mount on and a cheep BSA scope. It shoots good enough on paper but has not drawn blood yet. Today could be a good day for it.

I would post a pic but I don't have it out on the web.

I think I have a pic of the SS. I took it and my SBH today but got rained out. It was a good time. I will try again tomorrow. Well, here goes with the pic.
