I am not going to harp on this, but I was wondering if anyone has heard from Gary? My wife ordered the magazine last Christmas and I am very anxious to read it. The other two issues have been re-read so many times they are starting to look a little ratty. They were excellent! It is getting to be the time of year where I have more free time and little to do outside of work but catch up on reading (hope my wife doesn't read this) :/. I sure hope the magazine will happen and happen soon.

Yes, I corrected myself. Don't know what I was thinking.

I know nothing!!

Gary used to call me about once a month to chat when he was stuck in traffic on the daily commute. I have not heard from him in many months. Of course, I have not made any attempt at calling him either.

I did send an e-mail about two months ago...said he was working on it and should be done soon. However...I don't know what his definition of "soon" may be.

I also hope he (and his kids) are alright.

I really miss his additions to this forum. Surely he didn't miss hunting season and has some new stories to tell.

As others also have I've sent Gary a few emails in the past year in regards to the magazine and have heard nothing back.

Our money was sent to him, the 2006 magazine is well over a year late, several people have emailed him numerous times and not had a return response plus he has not even had the decency to offer any sort of explanation here on the forum.

It's a shame but I've pretty much come to the conclusion that it just ain't gonna happen gentlemen....as far as I'm concerned even if it does suddenly appear at this point it'll be too little too late.

Wow! I think everyone should take a step back a minute. I know I have been gone a while but I do love this forum. Let's give old Gary a break here. After all, this is the best forum on the web for Handgun Hunting. It is where I learned most of what I know about handloading, here and Beartooth, and it is what keeps me coming back to Handgun Hunting when I go astray.

We need to find out where Gary is. I think he pays the bills and I love this site. Thanks Gary. Hope you and yours are OK.

I think waiting over a year is giving Gary a break. If he is such a stand up guy, why has he not made a post for almost 5 months and at least let us know what is going on. I personally feel it is no different than somebody listing a classified item, selling it to a bunch of people and never delivering. Gary needs to step up and be a man and tell everybody that either the magazine is not going to happen or give us some kind of update.

So should I be nervous that as a new member, I just ordered all three magazines? Should I expect to receive two? Or none? Refund?

You should get the first two issues. The third (Fall 2006) is not out yet. I ordered over a year ago but continue to wait patiently.

Send me PM's with your addy and I'll see how cheaply I can get them shipped. This has nothing to do with Gary or the money you paid him...I'll be covering this out of my own pocket as a favor to a few who have not gotten the 2004 issue. He gave me a box after they were printed to try and pimp to local shops, clubs, etc. I did not have much luck and they reside on the workbench.

Now...please do not rip me. This is only, ONLY for those that legitimately ordered the 2004 issue and not taken shipment. I can afford to send a few copies, but can not afford to be sending many. So this is a first come, first serve offer. If I get a ton of requests I'll be going by the time the PM was recieved to determine who was first. And hopefully I'll catch up with him to get the funds back.

Hey, I can wait a bit more, but I will keep this in mind. This is very generous of you. Thanks.

I've sent emails and tried the phone number for the last month or so with no response. I moved in August and thought maybe it got sent to the old address. I guess not. The phone mail box is full, so you can't leave a message. Hope he's o.k., but if I send somebody money for something I would at least like a reply. IMO.

Thanks encoreguy for posting this. At least I know somebody else didn't get my copy.

Be patient my ass, we have been waiting over a year. Never thought a fellow handgunner would do us this way. Gary was posting almost every day up until Aug. them he drops out of sight and doesn't have the courtesy to even let us know what is going on.

I havent been posting on here much lately, and really can't speak for Gary, but there has to be some extraordinary situation that is keeping him away. I have dealt with him numerous times in the past. Never anything less than professional.

You know I have been reading about the dissapearence of Gary for a while now. I also sent in my money for the magazine and I too have not received my copy. I would love to get my copy of the magazine, but here is the way I look at it:
I get to visit this forum on a daily basis. I read through the posts, and I consider you friends. I enjoy the stories of your successes and frustrations. I have learned a lot about handgunning and reloading. Most of this is information I would not have likely come accross anywhere else. So I guess I paid 12 dollars for everything I mentioned above.
Some of you may not see it that way, but someone is paying real money to keep this site up. Internet bandwidth and web server space is not free. If my 12 bucks went to keep this forum up, I don't really care if I ever get the magazine.
Anyway There is my 2 cents.

Like a lot of people I paid my money for the magazine a long long time ago. I paid that money for a magazine not to keep the web site up. If Gary needs money to keep the web site going then charge a membership fee. Starting a new magazine has got to be very hard. If it falls through I guess I'm out $13.00 because I chose to pay early. Now if Gary knows the new magazine is never going to happen and he's still taking peoples money then thats a crime. It also sounds like people have paid for the first 2 issues and have never received them.

I don't think anything has happened to Gary, I seen his name in the "Who's Online" box about a month ago but, he hasn't made any post.

I too sent in my money for the next issue. I still hope to receive it.

That being said, we as handgun hunters have been crying for at least the last 25 years for a magazine strictly for us handgun hunters. Gary has stuck his neck out and tried to give us what we wanted.

If it turns out that the next issue never comes out I will just considerate it money well spent in a attempt to further the sport I love.

I just hope Gary is alright.

Jeff

Man, i hope it doesn't fail. We NEED this magazine out there. Heck, i'd pay for 2 subscriptions if i knew it would help keep it afloat. Odd we haven't heard from Gary--there must be something wrong. Anybody live in his neck of the woods??

I agree with Steve, I would happily prepay for a multi-year subscrition to a high quality handgun hunting mag such as the first two issues that Gary produced. But there is no excuse for not letting those of us who have pre-paid for a product not to get some sort of explanation. As others have stated, if the magazine is not going to happen, just let us know, keep the $$ just let us know what is going on. The money is only money, but being a man and sticking to your word is all you really have in the end. I wish Gary all the best and hope he checks back in soon.
