I'm going to sell my Ruger SRH .454 7.5" , I've shot 80 rounds of .454 and 300 rounds of .45LC , All factory loads. It's like brand new. I have know Idea what to ask for it. So if I could get some opinions that would be great. Thank you. Rupe

Hey Rupe - Can't give you the info you want, but if you could send that firearm to me it would feel right at home. My user name is "Rupe/PA" !! I live in the other end of the country though, so weather change might upset it.

Wow, first time I've run into another Rupe. Would that be part of your last name by any chance? By the way, I'm sure it would look good in your home, for the right price. LOL

Regular Rupe...don't let him fool you. He does not treat guns that well. I would have a much better home for it in my newly remodeled mancave.

And yes..."Rupe" is part of Rupe/PA's last name. It's short for "Rupunzel" which is short for..."Fabio Rupunzel". Women are always asking to pet his long flowing locks of hair. I used to shoot with him all the time but get tired of the constant throng of women following us around the beanfields...scaring away the groundhogs!!! Just a real PITA!! ;-)

I knew that rupe name rung a bell, hi Rupe/PA. Double down! Anyway, your question. I see them go all day long on G-Bro for $500 - $550, sometimes less if there's a bunch. I live by the 25% rule, once a slug has gone down the tube it is worth 75% of new, and will not go any lower unless abused. FWIW, I paid $599 for mine and it had a Leupy variable 2.5-8 which I sold for $325 so the math says.....smokin'

Don't be ashamed to ask for $550 at the get go, and if it don't get no love you can always reduce it. Shipping is another issue, if you are not an FFL or don't have one handy it can get spendy and complicated. FFL's can ship a handgun USPS priority flat rate for $8.95 plus insurance, where an individual must send UPS or FedEx next day for a minimum of $35, and many receiving FFL's will not accept from an individual. Anyways, good luck with your sale.

Why you wanna sell that fine piece anyway?

Rod.

s4s4u--I'm selling it so I can buy a Ruger SBH Hunter .44mag. I'm a single action guy and I love Rugers, I wanted something to shoot .454 , but being that Ruger only makes the SRH, I was stuck. I figured I would give DA a try and if I didn't like it I could go back to SBH. Well I just don't care for the double action so I'm going back to .44mag SA. It's a great revolver and round, but I'm just not happy with it. I did manage to take a 325 lbs bear at 80 yards with it, so it shot great for me, but just don't like the DA. It comes from playing cowboys and indians when I was a kid. (John Wayne Rules!!) rupe

Ruger Super Redhawks are selling new for $585.00 here in NY. If you want to move it quickly ask $400-450 they pay the shipping. Or $450 you pay the shipping. $500 would be a reasonable price used to ask if you are not in a hurry to move it. I bought my SRH in 44 used for $350 cash 3 years ago. I passed on a 454 SRH a year ago for $425. That was a good deal but both my 44 and 480 SRH's have 9.5" barrels and the 454 was a 7.5". I couldn't get a short tube and have a miss-matched collection. I can't fault you there, I love my SBH Bisley Hunter in .41 mag. If Ruger would finally offer that format in a 5-hole .480 it would be in my hands before you could blink. Maybe one day....... :-(

Would you really want to pay the shipping? I think it would be cheaper to dress her up like a deer and set her out, I don’t know about 500-600 yards out and put her out in a prime spot. With the way people on this sight can shoot, I wouldn’t want them shooting at me!! One more thing, I wasn’t insinuating anything!!

Thanks guys, I think I try the $550. and see if I can get any takers. I really hate to go lower. I feel like I'm giving it away, but I know it's not a gun that is in hot demand. Hopefully I can find someone that wants to trade a SBH hunter straight across, but I'm probably dreaming. Thanks again, now can we get back to bashing Ex's?

There is one over here, and although your revolver isn't on his list it don't hurt to ask. Rod

I have looked through the search to see if I could find a thread on the SBH .44mag Hunter and couldn't come up with anything. Does anyone remember a write up on this handgun? Maybe I'm just not giving the "search" the right command, which is very possible being a self proclaimed computer idiot.lol

Great articles thank you very much. Love to read about guns that I'm going to get or are on my wish list. Gives me something to daydream about while laying around.
The Elk of a lifetime steps out and I quick draw my new SBH hunter and shoot from the hip. The Monster Elk drops like it was hit with a meteor. I spin the revolver back into its holster. Knowing that I hit it right between the eye, I say to myself, not a bad shot for 100 yards. Then I here the words, Honey wake up and take out the garbage! NOW! yes dear

Looks like I got it sold to a guy my wife works with. He told her he'd buy it, sight unseen. I can't do that, so I'll show it to him tomorrow, but he already knows it's almost new. So I should have my new SBH .44 Hunter with in a week. (Hopefully if everything works out that is.) I'm already excited, it's sort of a choice between the SBH or a new microwave oven (broke 2 days ago), I vote for SBH, I think Mrs. Rupe will go for it too. We can get the wave next paycheck. Anyone disagree with that?

Here's the logic from my point of view......

Honey we need the gun first so I can go harvest something. Then later after that tasty critter is in the freezer we will get a new microwave so we can cook it.

Yahoo! Wife has no problem waiting on the mircowave, so if my guy has one in stock I'll pick it up tomorrow. If not I might have to wait until next Saturday. It's going to be a long night and if I have to wait all week, aaaarrrrgggggg!
