Hello All,
My name is Tracy I live in Fairbanks Alaska. I've hunted all my life with everything from a .22lr to a bow. I am currently using a muzzleloader (special moose hunting permit). My intrest in handgun hunting began when my wife and I went to visit her folks in Ohio. I really dont like the idea of shooting a deer with a shotgun. I use a shotgun for bear protection, not for shooting a little bitty deer. I could use my bow or a muzzleloader. But then I would have to drag a great big case thru the airport. And lets just say in my experiences TSA are not kind to gun or bow cases. Since I already own a .44 mag and a Thompson Ceter Pro Hunter I thought I would hunt with a handgun. The case would be smaller and look less like a gun case than what is normally seen up here. Also after flying for 24 hours (yes it takes that long to get to ohio from alaska) carring a little case would be better than my big pelican gun case. Anyway This site has already been very helpfull. A BIG THANKS goes out to TCTex for all the help. I am looking forward to lerning alot more form this site and the good folks that contribute to it.

Thanks
Tracy

I'm Joe. I have been handgun hunting since the early 70's. Both my sons shoot handguns and my wife is just starting this year. I am very excited for her, should be a lot of fun. My collection runs from .22 cal to a Smith .500. Some times it's hard to decide which handgun to take out. I am a lucky man :-)

So many bears, so little time.

Hi,
My name is Ed, I live in the FL Keys, but do all my hunting in Michigans Upper P, White Tail and Grouse are my favorites, started hunting with an Contender in 85 or so and have not looked back, aquired a TCR 87 and love it bought both of my sons Encores, been a T/C fan big time, a little unsure of their furture, and hope they continue with their single shots. A new member here but recognise a lot of handles from the Specialty Pistol sight, a great bunch there. Am in the process of putting together contenders for both my boys, one who is a 2 time deployed Marine Sniper the other is a Finance major at FSU, couldn't be more proud of either.

Hello All, I'm Arnold Teves a new guy on the block. I don't usually get involved in forums, prefering to just be a fly on the wall. After a 35 year layoff from handgun hunting I'm getting back and am excited about it so thought I'd join in with other like minded friends. The FAH moniker is from my company Firearms Academy Of Hawaii. You can check out my website if you care to http://www.fahgroup.com go to the military menue tab and that's what has been keeping me busy most of these years.
I'm a big bore revolver fan and have .44 mags, a .45 colt Ruger Bisley, FA83 .454 and in .475. I like 'em in pistol packin size.
I currently reside in Northwestern Washington State. Anyone in my area? Thanks and Practice Perfect.

Hi All,

My name is David I'm here in Richmond Virginia, brand new to handgun hunting but not shooting. I've been shooting since I was 7 when my Dad gave me his old .22 rifle I just turned 60 a few weeks ago.

Purchased a Smith 500 mainly for hunting but also because I just love burning powder. In my younger days was a competition pistol shooter, lately I've been building hunting rifles based on the AR platform in 6.8mm.

Glad to be here, I'll post up some pics of the Smith when I get the FastFire sight in this week. Looking forward to this season.

Hello everyone, I'm Brenden from WV and I'm 24 years old. I'm new to hunting with a pistol and invested in my first rig a few months ago. It's a T/C Encore in 375 JDJ. I have spent many hours shooting it and working up a load and I'm anxious to use it next week.I also have a 7mm-08 barrel for it as well.

When I'm not working, I'm usually shooting, building guns, or hunting (if the wife lets me!). I enjoy reloading and building rifles off Mauser actions.

Greetings All!

I'm Slingshot which is a handle I use on some other forums. I'm from East Tennessee and have been shooting my scoped 9.5" 480 Ruger SRH since 1989. Got it for whitetail hunting since I didn't want ot mount a scope on my 8 3/8" M57.

I shoot a fair amount of 41 mag in various revolvers I own. It is my favorite center fire handgun caliber.

Just got a 6.5" BFR in 480Ruger/475 Linebaugh and am about to start the learning process with this revolver.

I'm here to learn and share. Been looking for a forum that focuses on handgun hunting and larger caliber handguns. Ran into this one during a google search.

Is pretty obvious to any reloader it is a lyman mold number. I live in the mountains of Oregon and have been a handgun hunter for over 50 years. This looks like the right place to find some really interesting hand gun hunting stories. I have a few to share.

Hello. I'm John and I'm in Guthrie, OK. For one reason or another, I drifted away from hunting about twenty years ago. Work and young kids took priority and big game hunting in California (where I lived at the time) was pretty slim pickings.

But, I've recently decided to get back into the sport. Those kiddos are now grown and gone and I'm nearing retirement. Rifle shooting just doesn't interest me any more, nor does archery. Handgun hunting, however, does get the ole juices flowing.

I've got several revolvers that I use to punch holes in paper, but I'll be acquiring a hunting arsenal over the next year. I'll probably start with a Contender G2 in 7-30 Waters if I can find one. Those guns now seem to be few and far between.

I'm new to this forum, but look forward to chatting with you ladies and gentlemen. I'm sure I'll learn a lot.

Hunting with Handguns for about 20 years many years ago I had John Linebaugh make me a conversion on Bisley. Then John loaned me reemer so I could chamber a Number One in the same. John used it in his first big bore seminar.

If I had dime for every handgun I have owned I could buy another one.

Handgun hunting and shooting is passion I just wish I kept everyone I have owned.

Well,

I am new in the last month or so. I shoot a Taurus .44 8 3/8" barrel, with a Ultradot on it. I shoot only factory loads at this point. I retired in 2007 after 23 years in the Air Force. I now work part time at a hospital and am a minister. Learning a lot from you folks, though I don't post a lot. Have not shot anything but paper either as I am still getting used to the revolver.

Hey Guys,

From Michigan and quit gun hunting due to discust with all the "idiots" Michigan has on public land. But then they legalized single shot handguns in zone three so I had my excuse to buy one. I still don't gun hunt as much but when I do I'm carrying the TC. What a pleasure to drop it in the bandolier and have a nice stroll thru mother nature and not lug ten pounds of weapon.

Tight groups to you all.

I have hunted all my life , coon hunted with my dad from time I was old enough to walk , took my first deer when I was 7 with a 30 30 , my first deer with a recurve bow when I was 13 and my first deer with a pistol with a contender 30 30 pistol when I was 15 and have been hooked on hunting and fascinated with hunting ever sence. Newbie from Oregon. Hunting with a Dan Wesson 44 about a million years ago and also had a T/C in 7-30 waters. Sold both so long ago I barely remember them. Now I am getting back in the game.
