I'm new to the forum, from S.C. & not a handgun hunter yet. There is some nice info & exciting stuff on here. I have several handguns & would like to take it to the next level from target shooting. I bought my 13 yr old son a Ruger Mkiii for his birthday in August. We we're shooting together before that, he loves my wife's 38 snubby. I also just bought a S&W 357 mag & am getting to know it. A single six 22 mag & 32 long older German made gun. I would like to start reloading & work up some loads of my own. It would be nice to get out in the woods & stalk some game. With the 357 mag purchase I decided to build my own range on some family property. I've got a nice dirt bank built up & now I need to measure out mark off known distances for more proper practice. I almost forgot, I've got a TC Contender too & would like to get pistol barrels for it.

Hello, My name is Les, Live in the beautiful state of North Carolina. I have been handgun hunting for 20+ years, own numerous Contenders and Encores, and a lot of barrels. I am also a revolver guy, 44Mag, 460 and 500 S&W's. I am an avid reloader .....and just found this site. I do my own thing and am not a novice but always find that I am learning new stuff about this hobby. I hunt everything here from Whitetails to Blackbear ......sometimes I just sit in the woods and watch! It's my outlet from life! :o)

Just joined. I have a XP100 in 22-250 that will be redone to a 6XC. I will mostly varmint hunt but next pistol might be Savage Striker in 308 for deer hunting. Handgun hunting/target shooting long range is addictive.

Hello handgunners, I am a experienced hunter but a rookie to handgun hunting. 1 season=one 7 point whitetail. Started my research last year on hunting with handguns and found this forum. I must say that the most useful info I found was from here, thanks. Thanks that is for creating another addition for me. My others are muzzleloading and bow hunting. Starter pistol was a gp100 then got a srh 454 which I took my deer with.

My name's Jake and I am trying to get into handgun hunting, I thought this would be a good place to get some info along with some tips and whatnot. I'm from Arapahoe NC just outside of New Bern, but live in Goldsboro NC. I'm am currently LE at WMH, and was a paramedic for 3 years. I use a MK XIX desert eagle .50AE 6" and 10" barrels. actually looking for a nice revolver to hunt with as well. Anyone looking to lighten their firearm load?

Hello Larry I'm Buddy and presently living near Dixon Missouri. I started out hunting ground hogs in Ohio with a Super Blackhawk 357 and a ruger single six back in the 1970s. After joining the Air Force I sold all my guns except a shotgun and pretty much just bowhunted. A couple years ago I got back into shooting handguns and hope to soon get my first deer with my SRH 44 magnum. This is the handgun site to be a part of and good shooting.

Hello all,
I've been reading articles on this site for quite some time, so I thought it was time to check in and say hello. I picked up my first revolver in 357 Mag back in the late '70s, and bought my Contender in 357 Herrett in the early '80s. I no longer have the S&W model 19, but I still have the 10" Herrett and I still enjoy shooting it. I shoot rifles, .54 blackpowder percussion rifle, revolvers and the Contender. In the revolvers I shoot .357, .41 and .454, and in the Contender I have barrels in 22rf, 223 Rem, 309 JDJ, 357 Herrett, 375 Win, 45 Colt, and I'm waiting for a barrel in 445 SM.
I haven't hunted in CA in many years - I usually head over to AZ where my hunting buddies and I occasionally hunt elk (north of the rim), and javelina (south of the rim).
Over the past decade I've been doing most of my hunting with rifles, but it's definitely time to get back to the handguns!
Yep, I feel the need - the need for... single shot accuracy!
Dave

Hey guys,
My name is Pete and I live in Houston Texas. I hunt whenever i get the chance to, but so far ive never gotten the chance to hunt with a handgun. I stumbled across the site while doing some research about FA and i'm currently looking into purchasing one chambered in 454 mainly for hunting deer and the occasional hog. This site has been awesome with helping me gather more information. Thanks!!

Hi all
My name is Christian and I live in Whangarei, New Zealand. Here in NZ it's actually illegal to use handguns for hunting, and its quite a process to even own and shoot a handgun. So all of my hunting is done with rifles or shotguns, one up side is that we can hunt what we want when we want, all year round. I have got a Ruger SBHH in 44mag topped with a leupold 2x scope, it shoots really well. This site has heaps of great info as I am lining up a hunting trip to South Africa and intend to use a handgun and hopefully I'll get to the USA sometime soon for a hunt as well
Cheers
WB

I'm Toby. Glad to meet yall! I have been hunting, on and off with handguns for over 25 years. I started when I was around 13 years old, hunting small game with a Ruger MK2 22 pistol. I finally pestered my dad long enough, that he finally let me buy a TC Contender in 357 mag. Now the deer population was in trouble! I was able to shoot a few deer with this set up, and got the handgun hunting bug for sure then! I then decided to get into revolvers. So, I found a S&W 586 under the tree just before my 17th birthday. I hunted with that gun and killed a doe with it the first year. Then.....I shot the biggest buck I had ever shot at that time "or since" with the 357, and lost it to another hunter who was hunting 300 yards away with a rifle. I shot the deer in the neck, which was the only shot that he presented me, and missed the spine. I was heart broke! I even got the bullet out of his neck when the guy dressed him out! So that's when I abandoned the 357 mag and got a real gun. I've been a 44 or larger guy ever since!
Dyin' aint much of a livin'...is it boy?

My name is Scott this is my first post. I live in north pole Alaska and have been hunting with a hand gun for 15 years now. I have been lucky so far to have taken moose - caribou - bear and have really enjoyed the sport. I hunt with ether my freedom arms 83 in 454 or 475 with hard cast bullets for moose and bear and hornady XTP for caribou. Great web site enjoy reading every ones articles and posts. Thank Scott
