Hello, my name is Pat. Former Navy Pilot, now airline for the last 19 years. Grew up in Central Texas. I've been hunting since I was eight...and that is getting to be a long time ago. Always rifles. I bought a SBH Bisley .44 and Leupold 2X scope two years ago. Now I'm hooked. I'm thinking about an Encore in 7mm 08. Wonderful site. Very informative.

Kerry Mackey here... new to the forum and to handgun hunting. Been a stick and string guy for 30 years. Married with four boys (13,8,6,5) who all love to hunt, fish, and shoot. I've been a full-time Pastor for 19 years. Currently living in North East Texas.

Started looking into handgun hunting recently to add a new dimension to my hunting experience.

Here to learn all I can about handgun hunting...

I'm a college student from northwest Tennessee. I've only been hunting for six years.

Ever since I read about handgun hunting in the hunter safety course booklet, I've always wanted to try it. Unfortunately for me, Tennessee has a minimum age requirement of 18 for handgun hunters, so it was only last year that I actually got into it. Even though I didn't get anything, I'm hooked for life.

Welcome to all!

TN Lone Wolf- at least you live in a state that provides tons of oppertunity for handgun hunters. Make sure you check in on the March hog hunting thread at Wilderness lodge near Monterey. We pass by UT Martin on the way to Reelfoot Lake. reflex264

I just recently left the service this past year where I was a small arms repairman for 5 years. I deliver mail in central Texas now. Looking to get my first big game animal with a handgun this season. Seems like a great site here

Oh, I'm not complaining. I just wish I could have gotten into handgun hunting sooner.

So, you've been to Reelfoot? What were you doing over there? I've been there a few times myself, but the bulk of those visits were trips to one of the restaurants with some of the family. By the way, UT Martin is where I go to college.

Hello my name is Bruce and i'm from NE Ohio just outside of Cleveland and I am just getting into this wonderful sport. Long time hunter with shotguns and shoot handguns 2-3 times a month. I can't wait to get started, kinda like a little kid on Christmas morning. I hope to learn much and hope to be able to contribute as well. Thank you for having me here with you.

Was on the site previous (454casull), 2009, then got side tracked (lost job). Love whitetails and big bore revolvers but any HG is fine. Primarily a bowhunter but Handguns and HG hunting are a VERY close second.Good to see some of the same names still active. Have a safe season all

Hi my name is Dave, I am 61 and have been hunting with just about everything legal since I was thirteen. Born and raised about 15 miles SE of Pittsburgh,Pa. I do love getting up close and personal with game. I generally hunt from the ground even in bow season and I am fairly successful. I use a 44 mag,45 colt, and 454 Casull in revolvers. I also like my 30-30 in 14" conetender, 45-70 14", and a cartridge similar to 6.5 X 54 Manlicher also 14". The 6.5 is actually a 220 swift case opened up to accept a 6.5 bullet. I also hunt with compound bows, muzzleloaders, slug guns, and rifles. I been a member here for about 3 or 4 months and you guys have some really exciting tales and equipment. Thanks for a great forum!

I'm yet another Steve on here and from just south of where the Vermilion dumps into the Illinois and merges with the Fox. I'm totally insane about handguns! Revolvers, semi autos, break opens. Doesn't matter as long as they're handguns. 65 now and been using them for game since I was about 13-14. Squirrels and rabbits mostly in the beginning. I've taken my share of Missouri whitetails but, now that Illinois has a handgun provision in their game laws hunt here at home. Been reloading since I bought my first .357 and still have and use my original Rock Chucker a lot. Health issues have slowed my hunting but, not my passion.
Steve from where CCW was the last priority and our largest city has the largest murder rate in the country

Hi. My name is Donald. Eskimo name is Suluuq, which refers to the feathers on a bow, but before they are mounted.
I favor revolvers above all, especially Rugers.
I've recently been intrigued by handgun hunting again, mostly because the wife says to buy a caribou gun (my previous handguns were sold to pay the bills) and put up some meat in the freezer. I've chosen not to argue about it.

NO ES DIFICIL,HAY POCA VARIEDAD.

Boys if you interested he says that they are only allowed revolvers up to .44 magnum and semi autos up to 9mm. He says they are hard to get but there is little variety in Uruguay.

Muchas gracias. Pensé que sería así. reflex264

Hi, all- I've been checking in on the forum for some time & decided to finally join. I enjoy traditional archery and traditional blackpowder, as well as playing with my Rugers (super blackhawk hunter in .44 and GP100 in .357.) Heading upstate later this week to Clearfield for a couple days of whitetail hunting, & I'll be the only one without a rifle (I like to get into the thick stuff) hope everyone has safe hunting and great holidays!

Welcome Steve,

Thick stuff is good but make sure you have shooting lanes and have a good view of things. There is no such thing as a brush gun.

Hello all! I don't remember if I posted a roll call when I initially signed up, so here it is. I'm from southeast NY. Not the best place in the world for the outdoor pursuits, but there is plenty of variety in game and fish to target and no shortage of places to do it in. Excited to try the challenge, I bought my first hunting handgun immediately after I got the mandatory state license at 21 years old. It was a poor first choice--a 7.5" SRH in .454, and the recoil was so harsh to a newbie, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at 20 yards. Fast forward some years and some hard lessons learned, and I've essentially given up the rifles and slug shotguns to hunt with handguns. Hopefully I can learn a lot and contribute some around here.

Hello guys! My name is Jeff. I live in Hartford, WI. I have been hunting as long as I can remember. I have a passion for traditional archery, black powder (real black powder) rifles, Mauser-type bolt actions, Victory motorcycles and now handgun hunting. My first handgun hunt was for rabbits with a Ruger Mark II. My first deer with a handgun was with a borrowed TC Contender in 30-30. My interest in handgun hunting was sparked when my wonderful (and cute) wife bought me a Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter (.44 mag) for my 50th birthday. I have carried my model 28 S&W .357 mag while carrying my rifle, but never had an occasion to use it. There is a story about Super Blackhawks and a Virginian Dragoon that I will have to tell you over a beer sometime. I am so glad that I found this site, and I really appreciate the advice and information that you guys provide. Because of my interest in handgun hunting, for three years now, a few friends and I have a tradition for the Wisconsin Late Anterless-Only Hunt to be handguns only. I look forward to learning more from the members here, and may God bless.

Ramjet -SS name is Mike from NE Wisconsin one of my first handguns was Dan Wesson 44 that started the obsession. I have had a gun 475 Linebaugh made by John Linebaugh himself out over 4k rounds through it and then had it rebuilt by John. Today I own and have owned a very large number of handguns for hunting and self defense. I shoot whenever and however I can big bore small bore . I have taken deer elk and bear with my handguns and allot of small game. I have owned Contenders ,Encores, Linebaugh, S&W, Dan Wesson, Springfield's, Glocks, FNH, Reeder, Chiappa , Ruger, MRI, Kahr, Kimber, Wilson, and many many more. 44,45LC,375 JDJ,32 HR,357,38,327, 44supermag, 357 max, 444, 475 ,480 Ruger,460,500,454, 10mm, 9mm, 460 Rowland, 50AE, 240 Raptor and many rifle calibers in the Encore barrels. I love this stuff and now that we are empty nesters I am back in it with both feet. Casting reloading and hunting.
