Aye up lads,

I've actually made a more detailed intro/advice thread but nonetheless here's a little about me.

I'm Jim and from Yorkshire, England. Been hunting since i was a kid, wanted to handgun hunt for years but finally thinking about getting one or atleast the closest thing to a handgun as I can get. Big bores are my thing so it's safe to say I'm after a hand cannon. Currently serving in the Royal Navy as a aircraft engineer.

My name is Gabe.
I live down in Key West, Fl where I make a living as a police officer. Grew up hunting central Florida and got into handgun hunting couple years back. My father and I lost our lease last year after 10 years and in that time I was lucky enough to take numerous hogs, coyotes, turkeys, rabbits and random other game with a handgun. I didn't bother looking for a new prop this year becouse my wife is due In November with my first child. I thought the same thing, right at the beginning of deer season. I'll get onto something next year.
When I am not hunting or baby sitting society I am participating in the sport of aquatic hunting, spearfishing. I posted a couple of my keys spearing adventures in my pictures section.

I'm Dave,

I am a chief of police in a small north central iowa town. I have been handgun hunting since I was 14 which is over 35 years ago. I hunted mostly small game and varmints. I ran coon hounds and a .22 handgun was the weapon of choice. hunted foxand coyotes , spot and stalk with contenders for a bout 10 years. That fueled the fire for the rest of my life as I now have specialty pistols, contenders and big bore revolvers. I hunt deer with muzzle loader handgun during the iowa early muzzle loader season and choose to carry and hunt just about everything with handguns. I do have some long range rifles which is another addiction. Traditional archery rounds out the mix of every weapon and every season. Have shot a lot of whitetails, a few bears and hogs with a handgun. looking for the next adventure!

Hi Dave - welcome to Handgun Hunt! You'll find several here that enjoy similar pursuits, to include long range rifles and trad archery.

Be sure to share pics of those big IA bucks! I hunted pheasants years ago in Waterloo and was blown away what we'd run out of the standing corn...oh my!

Hi ya'll - My name is Darren and I'm a handgunaholic. Actually I'm new to hunting with handguns, only taken one deer, two years ago, with my .357 mag revolver and small game with a .22 so far. Since then I have bought a Thompson Contender frame and three barrels, a .22, a 7mm TCU, and a .357 Maximum, so I guess you could say I'm hooked. I started shooting my older handguns more to help with a flinch I had with rifles. Now they are all I can think about hunting with. My poor rifles are wondering what the heck happened. Thanks for a fantastic forum. I've received some great advice from the members here.

Brad here. I've been hunting with handguns since 1976. Never got to serious about it until now. Working ranches and guiding in western Colorado for over 30 years I've had plenty of opportunity to hunt. Lots of game with bow and rifle, and a record book black bear with a Dan Wesson .44mag. Now shooting a FA 454 and planning on elk hunting with it next year. So far I've taken turkeys and marmots with it. Need a new challenge!

Hi,

I am new to this site...but wrote a brief question on my GP100 the other day. I've lived/hunted Florida, Texas and now southern Leftofornia. Can't wait to get back to south Florida. Currently I'm usually out looking for the elusive hawg....utilizing a 45-70 or 30-30. Now....as I'm aging...not wishing to carry as much and distances in the hills are generally short....I'm fascinated with handgun hunting...and have but a GP100 in 357m which groups 180 Grizzly hardcast and 158 Fed soft points adequately with open sites at 50 yds. Anyways......glad to begin my walk down handgun hunting lane.

My name is Brad from NW Tennessee. I am just breaking into handgun hunting. I have a S&W 686 357 Mag. I started with. I've taken it deer hunting a few times but never got a shot. I also have a Ruger Mk III 22lr I want to start using for small game. I have recently bought a Ruger Redhawk in 44 Mag. so I'm looking forward to using these in hunting situations. I came here to learn the finer points of handgun hunting.

What length barrel do you have on your redhawk? I have a 5.5 inch redhawk in 44 mag that I have killed six deer with from 5- 75 yards.

I'm Mike. I've been handgun hunting and competing with handguns I've built since late 70's. Hunted exclusively with handguns for many years but drifted back to rifles a couple of years ago. Now I'm building a couple new XP's and plan to travel hunt more.
Welcome

Redhawk,

I got the 7.5" Barrel, but without the recesses for the Ruger rings. So far I like it!

My name is Ted. I'm from northeast Ohio. I am a long time handgunner but never tried hunting with one. Hopefully get to draw blood with my BFR in 454 Casull or Smith 29-2 44 mag.

Don't do it. It is an addiction for which there is no known cure. Truthfully I don't want one.

Welcome aboard.

Hi, I'm Wesley. I'm a diehard bowhunter that has gotten bored with rifle season. I have a 14yr old boy that I have been enjoying hunting with since he was 7. Since he started hunting I have just pretty much been his personal guide and didn't really care if I killed a deer with a rifle or not as long as he did. Don't get me wrong I have still been hunting and killing a few deer after he has just for the memories we share together in the woods. I love Bowhunting because it's more of a challenge and rifle season has just lost a little of its appeal over the years. My boy will be 15 this year before rifle season and I believe it will be the first year I let him hunt on his own. Kinda, he will be close for a couple years just not right beside me. So I'm going to put the rifles away and try pistols only for more of a challenge and bring some excitement back to deer season. I already picked up a CVA v2 44mag, I have a new TC Encore frame and I'm going to order a TC g2 Contender frame here shortly. One thing I really like about the TC's is all the amazing different calibers and barrel options out there. It could get expensive quick but guns or bows or anything to do with hunting has been my addiction for as long as I can remember any.

Thank You, it seems to shoot good although I haven't had time to shoot it much because work has been crazy. I have been looking at all the different barrels for the TC's and it's really hard to decide. It's kinda like a kid in a candy store I want a bunch of them.lol

Greetings! My name is Harold. I've visited this website for years and finally decided to make the plunge and participate. Love big-bore revolvers, single-shot handguns and varmint rifles/cartridges. Limited handgun hunting experience, but I hope to change that. Thanks for building an awesome forum.

I am Mark Hargrove, from western Texas. I am a handgun hunter, primarily with Freedom Arms guns, though I quit for a good while ad get wrecking my right arm and got into Ruger No. 1's. Healed up now and getting back at it, pigs, whitetail and coyotes ...
