Hi all. My name is Roger and I have hunted with handguns since I was about 15, when I bought an H&R 999 Sportsman for shooting rabbits and squirrels. That was 48 years ago. Shot my first big game with handguns about 9 years ago. I have lurked around here for the past few years.

My name is Rocky, I have been hunting for 35 years mostly in Michigan. I have used handguns for side arm back up mostly. But have a Ruger .480 I am using solely now for deer. I would like to go hog hunting in the near future with it! Love learning and reading the forum. I am read them everyday to see what new stuff is there!!

I wanted to talk red dots vs scopes any opinions?

Sorry to be so slow responding. I just saw this post. Welcome to the site. There are many guys with much more knowledge than me on this site but If you want to shoot over fifty yards I would choose a variable in the 2 x 8 power range.

I'm Jason and I have a problem. I'm addicted to handguns and hunting with them. Not exactly new here either but I was feeling left out.

South Arkansas, piney hills and river bottoms. Encore with 7mm-08, .223 and .460S&W. A Ruger SRH in Mr. Casull's favorite caliber and a few odds and ends here and there. More to be acquired.

Old member returning... forgot old log on etc after many years not being here. Rupe and I have been friends for years.

So I'm returning to the family once again. I'm pretty much retired/disabled here in NW Montana, and it will be much more advantageous to handgun hunt in our woods which I now want to hunt 100% with. Currently I own a 4" .44 Magnum, but that will change in the next few months, where I have pretty much settled on wanting a Ruger SBH 7.5" in the same caliber.

Anyway I wanted to say howdy.

Hi folks my name is Jeff. I've been a handgun hunter since 1981. I started with a T/C contender in 357 Max. Now have several calibers, revolvers, and auto's. I also started hand loading about '83. Hunting white tail is my favorite, but I also love to hunt small game. There is plenty of both, thank goodness, where I live in West Virginia.

Greetings everyone, I'm Kevin my first deer fell to a 357 Colt trooper 20 some years ago and have been hooked since. I've played a few games of IHMSA . My priorities shifted when the kids arrived, but now I'm getting back to the hog legs. I'm not a big conversationalist but always looking for friends. I like what I have been reading while lurking around. Thanks a bunch

Hello, I'm Alex and I am new here. I live in Washington state but hunt mostly in Idaho and Montana. Primarily, I'm an archery hunter for over 30 years. I usually pull out the muzzleloader when I wind up with nothing during the archery seasons and a late hunt with the 7mm Rem Mag (rifle) backs everything up.

My hunting handguns are, until now, relegated to the range or coyote hunting. I think this year I'll shelf the rifle and try my luck with an Encore 7-08 or Super Blackhawk 44.

....this stuff in almost as addicting as archery!

Hello all..

I registered some time back but had never posted, but have read a lot of the pages under the handgun hunting segment. Its a shame that photo bucket has locked out a lot of there pictures because that would have made it that much more enjoyable!

I started hunting with a rifle, and handguns, went to bow hunting, then started hound hunting. Became pretty dedicated to the dogs and shooting my specialty pistols kinda fell by the wayside, although I still have them, but always had handguns around. Ive done a quite a bit of hunting and maybe can share some of that along the way?

Im married to my best friend and we all love everything outdoors!

Best, Billy

Howdy all, I was a member a long time back. Life happened and I've been away for a while. I started lurking a while back and decided to join in again.

I started hunting whitetail and javelina with revolvers as a young teen. I enjoyed it a bunch and picked up a Contender in a trade about a decade later. I fell in love with it immediately. It came with a 10" 357 Max barrel. As I already loaded 357 Mag ammo, it was no big deal to load for the Max. I took a deer with it not long after. I later found a deal on an Armor Alloy Super 14 in 35 Remington and took a deer with factory Remington Core Lokt ammo. Enter children and life changes.

Fast forward a little and I've taken a few deer and a hog since then, but they were with rifles. My oldest is now an experienced hunter and we own some land near Kerrville, Texas which has whitetail and Axis deer, as well as an obnoxious amount of hogs. So, I've got the bug again. My reloading gear has been packed up for probably 12 years, so the Max is out for now. Also, arthritis and carpal tunnel have settled in, so I'm hesitant to unleash the 35 Remington Kraken. It was a hammer at both ends. So, I have a gently used Super 14 in 30-30 on the way and can't wait to sight her in! I look forward to hopefully posting a pic or two from the upcoming deer season. Thanks guys.
