I kind of introduced myself the other day. My name is Steve I live in Northern California, I have been hunting all my life and started shooting handguns on regular basis about 4 years ago, but I am still just a pup. This was the first year I hunted with a handgun (Thompson Encore .243) although I did'nt have any luck, I have got some jacks and ground squirrels.

Thanks

I've been a member for a number of years but have not been posting in awhile. I am a retired Navy submariner, and mobility impaired from an accident 20 years ago. I'll be seventy years young in april. I have been hunting with a Contender handgun for several years now. Have taken 2 nice bucks and a doe. One with a 6mm tcu, another with a 6.5 JDJ and the last one a 132 class 9 point taken with a 30-30 Ackley Improved. I recently purchased a 357 Maximum from MGM and hope to use it at a handicapped hunt put on by Eglin Air Force Base in Feb if I am lucky enough to be drawn.

Welcome aboard Gman! Nice to have another Navy Cat here.

Have you ever been to the naval air museum? It is worth going to! I play there at least 2-3 times a month during a change of command ceremony.

HI All,
I'll keep it short & simple. My name is Kevin. I love to shoot ... anything. Have been shootin' off & on for @ 40 years. Never as much as I want or should in order to be as proficient as I'd like. Have the time and can finally afford (within reason) to to pursue it again. I have to admit that one thing I always thought would be something I'd like to do before I leave this world is take a big bear w/ a handgun! I do a fair amount of pheasant huntin', took a nice 8 point whitetail w/ rifle a number of years back. Just really like handguns (used to shoot IPSC) and feel I'm really lucky to have found your magazine. I'm gonna have alot of newbie questions. Stay safe .... Axeman

Howdy bruce, glad to have another Oregonian on board. The wife and I have looked at moving to your neck of the woods but have to wait and see what this economy does. The wifes family has property on the middle fork of the John day just north east of Long Creek.

Welcome Bruce and to a fellow Oregonian. My niece and her husband live in La Grande. I've spent sometime hunting up in the Blue Mountains back in the 70's. Great area and great little town. Although it probably isn't so little anymore?

Hello my name is Ray. I live in Nebraska. I have been hunting and reloading since I was a kid.I just started hunting with a handgun in December. Started with squirrels and shot my first deer with a handgun during the late doe only season.I just bought a contender frame and am looking for a barrel. I must say that I consider it my personal duty to take as many people shooting for the first time as possible. I figure it is my contribution to the sport I love to educate anyone I can that firearms are nothing to be afraid of and are actually fun.

I just got here at the suggestion of a friend. Great site! I am an avid hunter who is hunting less and less with his rifles nowadays and am pretty much only hunting with handguns now. It's just too easy with a scopedrifle IMO....... My favorite hunting handgun is a custom 5-shot Ruger SRH in .475 Linebaugh.......

I'm Gerry, been here for quite a while. Hunting with TC's ever since I could read Milek et al. Actually I bought my first handgun and hunted with it in 1974. I still have that 6 1/2" M29! I Work for Merck (for now)in Project Management. Hunt deer, bear, Elk, chucks,Turkey and coy-dogs when time permits. Full-time work and school for a master's makes Gerry a dull boy at times. I have many Contenders, Encores, and a fine S&W collection, among many fine rifles and shotguns. I do ahve all teh calibers but I'm a magnum freak. I love my 30-378 Weatherby, 300 RUM amd my 338's. I just gotta shoot em while i can. If you're local and no LOCO, come on out and try DanB's SWPA handgun shoot in the spring. He is a fantastic host, and he promises his shooting will get better, but we're still waiting....

Hello! I'm Tom, a brand newbie here. I am interested in hunting with hanguns. Have taken some deer with a .45 ACP M1911A1, but it was more as a stunt just to see if it could be done. It can, but there are many better calibers out there.

I also own a Colt New Frontier .45 LC which I'd like to try one day. Lastly, I own a T/C Contender, the new model, in .30-30 which should prove to be pretty versatile.

Have always carried a sidearm under my coat while hunting since I lived most of my life in SE Alaska. The bear made me usually carry a rifle. The best part of the appeal of handgun hunting is the additional challenge. From good marksmanship to stalking closer; seems it makes for more satisfaction out of the hunt.

My name is Steve Pennington. I live in southwest Virginia. I have been hunting for 18 years. i have tried handgun hunting off and on for awhile. Starting with my hog hunt in Texas this month I plan on hunting with a handgun all year, getting seriuous this time. I have encore and contender in several calibers. I am going to start with the single shots then try revolvers next. I subscribed to the handgun hunting magazine and enjoy all the info on this site.

Checkin' in from WV. Old timer but new here. Nice site folks. I stumbled onto about 250lbs. of wheelweights last week. Bought 'em for $23! So I went to a gunshow Sat. to look for something to run some cast bullets thru. Came up with a Super Blackhawk. Good tight gun and the price was right. My handguns have been idle for a couple of years. That's about to change.

Hello from Kokomo, Indiana. I started handgun hunting small game in the mid eighties and started hunting whitetails with handgun in the mid nineties. I just picked up a blue 4-5/8" Blackhawk in .41 mag and plan to reload and hunt with this gun. I usually use my .44 mag SRH, but wanted to try a different caliber. This is a great site with plenty of useful information...
