Hi everybody, I too have been registered for awhile without saying hello so thought it was about time. I enjoy reading and learning all I can about the different guns everyone uses. I have had a 357 Colt Python 3 1/2" pistol for many years, although it has only kilt pop cans. I have taken a small black bear with my 480 Ruger and a deer with my T/C Contender in 7MM/TCU. I now have a T/C Contender 375JDJ to try and take an elk with. I live in Southwest Montana so there is plenty of hunting. Maybe this year for the elusive Elk.

Hello All,
My name is Bob Thompson. I don't hunt exclusively with handguns but they have been part of my hunting arsenal since the mid '70s. If memory serves I killed my first handgun whitetail in 1976 with an open sighted 10" octagon barreled Contender chambered in .30-30.

I live in a small town in the Ozarks of Missouri and since retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1996 I have worked full time as a Machinist. I recognize some of you from the other forums I visit and look foward to getting to know the rest of you!

Welcome to the site Bob. Those 10" octagon guns were beasts to shoot in the bigger calibers.

Thanks Gary,

They were pretty snappy in the recoil department, I think the worst one was the .44 Hot Shot barrel with 240 grain .44 mag. stuff.

Greetings!
I joined as of five minutes ago....looks like a great group to join. I have taken two mule deer with a handgun and hope to do more. Much to learn and am having fun doing it.

I am a huge single action revolver fan.

Later,

Rob

Hi everyone, My name is Jeff, im 23 years old and live in south eastern Minnesota. I went to college in NE MN in the town of Ely for National Park Law Enforcement. I love everything about the outdoors, hunting, fishing, you name it. I have been registered with the site for some time now without saying much because you guys have said it all!. I really enjoy the site and all the knowledge, pictures, and fun opinions shared on the site.

I hunt with a recurve bow, firearms, and muzzleloader. I used to work at Cabela's in Owatonna, MN and thats when I got into the handgun scene about 5 years ago. I am a big single action fan and currently own a 45 colt Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter with Bisley grip. It has a Burris 2-7 scope, a belt mountain #5 basepin, free spin pawl, oversize cylinder latch, and has had a trigger job. IT CAN SHOOT! I usually hunt whitetails with it, but have only killed one small MN black bear. I have been lusting for a FA 83 in 454 for a few years now, and hope to possibly order one this year.

I enjoy the site, so keep it up! I will try to post a few here and there.

Howdy Fellas, My name is Al, and I have really wanted to start handgun hunting for a while now. Been researching what to buy to do just that, and stumbled on this sight. So far it has been a big help and you guys have helped me to make a rational choice on a good caliber. A poor mans' got poor ways, so the .308 encore it is. I live in south east Oklahoma, in the brush country, with plenty of good deer around to hunt. I'll be around to get a tip or two, once I get the bugger caught, bought, and shot. Lately, I haven't had a couple days off to get it done, and we foster kids also, so time has not been an easy thing to get a hold of. I'll try and keep in the discussions if I have any related experiences and I'll keep you posted on my progress as a hand gun hunting beginner.

Hello my name is Kenny. I'm retired military, 30 years active duty, right back working for U.S Army in Afghanistan. I'm originally from Virginia where I currently own the family farm. I live in Fayetteville NC right outside FT Bragg, spent most of my career in 82nd Airborne. I've hunted 48 years, bow, pistol, long gun, black powder, anything to get me in the woods. I can be as happy squirrel hunting with my S&W 17 as I can in a treestand with my S&W 29. Here in Afghanistan, I probably spend as much time looking at pictures of my beagles and guns as I do my wife.

New guy here. I am new to pistol hunting so I am here to listen and learn. I have been lurking for a while now and joined because I read all the unlocked member hunts and wanted more so here I am. I got my first hunting handgun a couple monthes ago a SBH 44 mag. and I am looking forward to busting a deer and maybe even some hogs this fall.

New to the forum and have an interest in getting into big game hunting with a handgun and also the occasional coyote. Probably won't post much yet as I haven't picked up or even figured out what I want yet. Really like the T/C Contenders that my dad had when I was growing up and am seriously considering one for the versatility although a revolver is not out of the question. Have a friend that hunts exclusively with handguns except wing shooting and have learned a lot from him and think I can learn a lot from here as well. Thank you

I am Joe and go by JH. I am new and have been visiting this site for some time. I am waiting for a 15" MGM 30-30 AI Contender barrel to go with Pachmayr decelerator grips. Thanks to Ernie I purchased Burris Signature Zee rings with inserts to mount Bushnell's new model Trophy XLT 2-6x32 scope. I am a bowhunter and dislocated my shoulder a while ago, which prompted me to take a look at single shot handguns. My first hunt will be with my son for hogs in Florida.

Hello,
I'm John, sometimes known as JT. I've been into guns, hunting and handloading since 1961 (I think)! I did some handgun hunting in the 80s, deer, pigs, and varmints using mostly revolvers with iron sights. Had a Contender back then, scoped, and used it for varmints but I just wasn't a T/C guy. I enjoyed the revolvers more. I've rifle hunted around the US and Canadian West and am just getting back into handgun hunting with the purchase of a SRH 454 plus scope.

Hello,
I'm Kevin. 50 miles south of Buffalo NY. I started hunting just a couple of years ago and finally tagged two does last season, with my 30-06 and .50 Black Powder. I can't wait to get out this season with my Super Redhawk 454 topped with a 2X Simmons.

Hello, I'm Jeff. I am kind of new to handgun hunting, at least for big game. I have hunted rabbits with my Ruger MKII years back. I like a challenge when it comes to hunting. I carry a Flintlcock Long rifle for muzzleloading, a Longbow or recurve for bowhunting. My passion for the Ruger Super Blackhawk was just refueled by my wife who "replaced" one I had pawned for first months rent and deposit when I was in the Army at Ft. Polk. She gave it to me on my 50th birthday, after I had already settled on and purchased a Virginian dragoon. I did not know that SBH was on order. I thought I had my present already. I look forward to hunting this fall, but I just don't know if My model 70 will like it!:) I love this site!
