Oh and thank all of you for aswering my questions.

Had one on a 22/45 Ruger did great. I do not think I would use one on anything but a 22lr. For another $50 you can get a 2X Weaver.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

To tell you the truth, Id buy quality the first time around, because 99% of the time it will save you a big hassle.

I have one on a Ruger .22 that I use on the IHMSA range and for plinking rabbits. It works fine, I use it during the daylight and do not depend on it for hunting conditions. I've had scores as high as the low 30's in standing and 38 / 39 in creedmore. It has been in use 2 years and several 1000's of .22 rounds now.

I know several guys who have them on .223's. No one I know would put them on a serious gun that may have a real hunt depending on their performance.

Buy a Burris or Leupold and you'll never look back.

I have two and have had no problems. Seems like most of the problems are with the illuminated reticule models.

I'm looking to put it on a t/c 357 max and a 30-30 ackley with a break . Maybe a 44 mag . not sure if they'll hold up.

I will let you know.
I have a non illuminated 2X on a T/C Contender 10" barrel and I have about 100 rounds through it with no problems. It has also survived a deer season of occasional carry and an out of state hunt.

I have a 2.5 on a 44mag.I'm not a real heavy shooter but I'm sure I've put about 100 rounds out without a problem yet.Not being a heavy shooter is the reason I opted for the cheaper stuff.Figured as I learned more from you guys I'd know where to go from there.

Here's my 2 cents, take it at face value. I rely on my scopes to perform always.

I have never bought a cheap scope and I've never had a scope failure. I have a 4X leupold on a 480 Ruger 600+ rounds down the tube, and a fall on a gravel driveway from waist height. Never even lost zero.

I have a Bushnell 3200 2X6 on a 357 Max that I run quite hot. Can't give a round count off the top of my head but no problems yet.

I have a Weaver V16 on a 223 Encore barrel, granted the 223 is not a heavy kicker. Round count is 6-700 plus and it still will let me shoot 1/2" groups at 100. I have taken over 75 charlies which equates to lots of time in the field, bumps, dings ect.... still going strong.

So let me ask you, cheap scope that might at any time give up the ghost. Hopefully not when the 10 point buck of your dreams is in the crosshairs. OR, buy an expensive scope that is proven and hunt/shoot with confidence.

Granted there are enought guys here that can tell you of each brand of expensive scope that has failed, but they are few compaired to the cheap ones.

The thing is you don't have to jump all that far to move into quality. For only $100 more than the NCStar you can have a Weaver fixed or Bushy variable, another $50 and the Weaver variable. These are proven commodities with excellent glass and durability. Well worth the little extra time saving for, IMO.

Rod, too.

I think the advice you are getting is right on. I have learned the hard way, don’t cheat yourself on mounts or scopes. It will come back to haunt you!
