If you are interested in chamberings for the TC, YES. Hornady’s book uses all different types of handguns. The TC book is very good if you are trying to work up loads or decide on a barrel for your TC. The velocities will also be closer to what the book states.

I have the set and when I was shooting contenders I found it extremely usefull, especially on stuff like the 45-70 where there are literally hundreds of loads but many are weaker than what the contender is capable of handling and some of which would destroy a contender, with the load books it takes the guess work out because you know the loads have been tested in contenders.

Is Volume 2 all new data or does it reprint most the data from Volume 1?

I believe Volume 1 is 17 to 7mmtcu and Volume 2 is larger calibers.

I have The Complete Reloading Manual for the Thompson Center Contender (fifth edition, revised Jan. 2000, 434 pages) which does not show a volume number. It covers 36 calibers from .17 Bumble Bee through .45-70 Govt. Did they just break this down into two volumes now?

Pab is yours put out by "Load Books"? Loadbooks makes load manuals for a plethora of calibers but they have the two part set for the contender. Most of the load book stuff comes in a modified spiral binder configuration

Ok, there are two different sets y’all are talking about. The first one is the “Thompson Center Contender Reloading Manual.” It was the first and it is a good addition for the Contender. The second is a two part set. Part one has .17 threw 7mm and part two goes to the 45-70. Part two starts with the 30 M1 Carbine and goes threw the 45-70. It also includes loading data for the 308 Win.
I hope this helps some!
I am on drugs today so I hope this is cognizant!?!

Loadbooks USA Inc, there is a few listed on ebay right now. I do not know if they are still being published.

I found an old copy of the big TC Loadbook last year. The old manual was cut in half to make the newer pair. There is a lot of good info in them, but it seemed dated. The historical intro to each cartridge was good. Cartridges that interested me were the 6.5 TCU, 7 TCU, 6.5 JDJ.

At first glance I know they added the 308 to the second book. I would have to look at it a little closer to tell what else they have added. My new Lyman book as LOOOOTS of good loading data for the TC’s. Has an entire section just for them that is pretty nice. My Hornady book has several that has loading data for the revolver and the TC. In fact it has 3 listed for the 44 Mag.

They included the .308 Win in the 5th edition (single volume "big book") too which always confused me since it's an Encore round. I would rather have seen them include another Contender round since it is a book on Contenders. Maybe a section on .309JDJ, .358JDJ, .414 Super Mag, .444 Marlin or even .223AI or .30-30AI. That is the only complaint I have with the book which is packed with a lot of good load info.

My Hornady book has loading info on the 309JDJ, 338JDJ and 444 Marlin. The 444 Marlin is for a 15 Encore but I don’t think that should make a big difference. I got some great load data on the 30-30Al from KYODE as well. I could e-mail them to you if you would like.
