I have used the Zeiss Z-Point on a very heavy recoiling single action with no problems.

Personal preference, but I like a red dod.
I have a 30mm "UltraDot 4" on my mod. 29. It's no 480, but I've shot hundreds of rounds 300-320gr @ 1300-1350 plus lesser loads, plus 5 yrs+ of Alaskan weather & banging around & never a problem. I like the choice of 4 dot sizes at the rotation of a switch (4,8,12, & 16 m.o.a.) to fit the conditions due to distance, target size, light, etc. Most of the time mine stays on 8moa, but when approaching my bear bait station in thick country with brown bear in the area I'll sometimes switch to 16 moa knowing that a shot would be close range & the dot will be quicker to find. If I'm target shooting I might use the 4 moa. It also has 11 different brightness settings, so between the dot size & brightness settings it will work in most any light conditions.

Red Dot is the easyest to use and get on target. With my older eyes it's nice to have a little magnification to see better. I have a 4x on my .44mag and I had a Red Dot on my .454 It held together just fine and it was pretty inexpensive. (Read Cheap) I still have it and I was thinking about putting it back on for close in work on Hogs or Bears.

I have 2X and 4X on various revolvers and each has it benefits. For an overall revolver scope I'd go Weaver fixed...and likely a 2X. But my revolver hunting is always in wooded areas with 100yds max. Other than that I tote a T/C or XP with WAY MORE optics.

I cast my vote for the 30 mm "Ultra Dot". Lifetime warrenty and very reliable. Never heard of one failing. Burris however has a new compact dot scope the looks like a Holo sight and sells around $200. New for 2008 so I can't tell you if its a keeper or not.

Red Dot all the way--but a GOOD red dot, like the Aimpoint or Leupold. If you like throwing $$$ away, how about throwing it my way instead of tasco's... ;\)
