Well, guys I just placed an order for a Lee Classic loader Kit for my 22-250. I know this little system is probably laughable to most of you, but I have never reloaded a round in my life and thought it would be a good place to start. I am going to go pick up some powder, primers, and projectiles then get started. This way if I really take a liking to reloading I can pick up a full blown press kit and im only out the $23 for the lee loader. Im really looking forward to getting started...wish me luck.

Most people think the Lee products are junk because they are cheap. Well a few things Lee has are cheaply made, but Lee stands behind them if they break. Truth is Richard Lee is a smart man with excellent designs and he offers his products at reasonable prices. I fully belive if it wasn't for Lee offering good products at reasonable prices the other companies would have things so far priced out of sight "we" the average Joe would not be reloading. I have 5-8 Lee dies sets, the auot prime 2, and a Lee press. Never had a lick of trouble with any!!

You made a good choice to start out. Like you say if you don't like reloading you don't have a lot invested. If you need any help as you go along just ask. We can give you a few pointers along the way.

If you are like me I enjoy reloading as much as shooting. So over the years I have amassed quite a collection of reloading equipment.

I've got two presses, two scales, two powder measures, two hand primers,& about 8 sets of dies sitting on m bench. With the exception of a lyman powder measure & trimmer everything else is Lee. I'm a huge lee fan. Getting ready to order one of their Pro Disk auto measures.
By the way, I've been loading for about 25 yrs & have had most all major brands. They all make good stuff, but when I got back into reloading a few years ago I went all Lee because I feel that outperform anyone for the dollar spent.
Their "Anniverasry Kit" for about $90 is hard to beat.
So folks can laugh at us both!

Enjoy reloading!!!!

The little kit I just ordered was $23 including shipping. Im not sure if you guys have seen them but this little kit doesn't even include a press. You use a rubber hammer from what I understand. That's why I said it would probably be funny to some of you.

OK, I will. I opted to go the cheap route because I just bought the 22-250 barrels in rifle 24" and pistol 15" and a scope for each (my wallets so flat I cant even tell if its in my pocket). That's the biggest reason I decided to give reloading a try, going to be shooting a lot of 22-250 rounds.

just be carefull, I have one for 45 colt that I got when I first started reloading and you seat the primer with the hammer your talking about and I had many go off and burn my fingers. I then got the Lee Anniversary kit and I still use it but I upgraded to a Lyman DP1200 auto powder dispenser and I bought new RCBS Rock Chucker because of the larger window for the ultra mags. I just bought a lee pro 1000 progressive but it irritated me so I need to mess with it some more, I'm sure when I get it set up it will work fine.

I love my Lee kit and have used it for 14 years or so. Never had anything go wrong except the wood ball on the handle came loose and had to reglue. Great stuff. What you have is what Mr. Lee built the system you have so he could reload right at the range, if I remember right. That way he wouldn't have to run home to change a load for testing.

I bought a RCBS single stage about 15 years ago. I don't remember what I paid for it, but I think it has loaded enough ammo through the years to supply an army ... I think it's kind of like finding a gun or caliber you like. After a while it feels effortless.

I have always felt that with a little time and effort you can reload a box of ammo that is way more accurate and cost 1/4 as much as buying it from a store!

Welcome to reloading! HAve fun and be careful. Follow a manuels guidlines and you wont have anything to worry about!

Popeandyoung, you might want to by a powder scale so that you can determine how much gunpowder that little scoop holds . Midway has an electronic scale about 30$ that reads the same as my redding scale and is much faster

Congradulations! You've just discovered a way to spend MORE money. Yep that's right. MORE! You will find out reloading is as much fun if not more fun than the actual shooting. You will discover more little cool tools than you thought possible. Just stay away from accurate rifles. It takes about a $1500 rifle to tell if your handloads will go in 1 hole. I tell everyone
"If your lucky, you'll shoot more for the same money." Have fun and be sure to read ALL the safety documentation.

I got started reloading with the Lee basic kit over 40 years ago. The list price was $9.95 back then, and you could sometimes pick one up for under $7.00. Especially in the less popular calibers. You can load good servicable with the Lee basic kit. Just not very fast. You will set off a primer when seating them every once in a while. Be sure to always wear safety glasses and leather gloves when priming.
